Dimapur, March 14 (EMN): For the purpose of redeveloping railway stations and to provide an enhanced and richer experience to the passengers about 600 stations have been indentified for this purpose across Indian Railway.
A press release issued by the NF Railways Maligaon on March 14 mentioned that the said endeavour will be to Indian Railway Station Development Corporation Limited (IRSDC) shortly.
As a parallel measure, it is said to have been decided that the development of about 70 stations through Zonal Railways will be done separately including five stations of N F Railway namely- Katihar, Lumding, Tinsukia, Alipurduar and Rangiya.
The release stated that the emphasis will be on having a visible change in the station without unnecessary construction all over.
Divisional railway managers have been directed to appoint architectural consultant for preparation of overall architectural plan and may also take feedback and ideas from local stakeholders, the release stated.
The work for the identified stations is said to be completed by this year end.
