  • DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) and representatives of the Phom People’s Council, led by the president of the Dimapur Phom Union, held a joint consultative meeting on Sunday regarding the ongoing foothill road construction under SASCI in Dimapur.

  • According to an update, after much deliberation and in line with the decision of the three tribes of Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, and Sumi Hoho, adopted on January 16, 2025, a number of resolutions were unanimously passed.

  • It was mentioned that, as resolved in 2013, it is unequivocally reaffirmed that no compensation will be paid to any individual, clan, or village in relation to the foothill road construction. In the event of a violation, the council, along with the committee, will take stern action against whomever it may concern.

  • All contractors/firms that have received work orders for the construction of the foothill road under SASCI must sign an implementation agreement with the committee under any circumstances within three days, i.e., on or before January 23. Failure to do so will result in the particular firm being prohibited from executing the work within the jurisdiction of the Phom Council.

  • It is also further resolved that, in the event of the implementation agreement not being signed with the committee within the stipulated time frame (on or before January 23), the Phom Council, along with the committee, will urge the concerned department to immediately cancel the work order and issue a new work order to the deserving firms in order to ensure the success of the historic road project.

  • It was also made clear that the working season is running out. Therefore, in the event of any unfortunate situation occurring, the defaulting firm/contractor will be answerable to the Naga public.
