Members of NFHRCC and tribal leaders after their meeting on
Thursday.
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Foothills Road
Coordination Committee (NFHRCC), along with three apex tribal hohos—Ao Senden,
Lotha Hoho and Sumi Hoho—has directed all contractors/firms with work orders
for the foothills road project under the Special Assistance to States for Capital
Investment (SASCI) scheme, to sign implementation agreements with the committee
before January 20.
A press release issued by the committee stated that
contractors/firms failing to meet the deadline will not be allowed to execute
their works within the jurisdiction of the three hohos. This was decided during
a joint meeting of the committee with the three hohos on Thursday in
Mokokchung, it informed.
“It is also further resolved that in the event of
non-signing of implementation agreement with the committee within the
stipulated timeframe, the hohos, along with the committee, will press upon the
concerned department to immediately cancel the work order and to issue new work
orders to the deserving firms so that the historic road project will survive.
“It is also made clear that the working season is running
out; therefore, in the event of any unfortunate situations, the defaulting
firms/contractors will be answerable to the Naga public,” the resolutions read.
They also reiterated the 2013 resolution that no compensations
will be paid to any individual/clan/village with regards to foothill road
construction. “In the event of violation, the hohos, along with the committee,
take stern action,” it stated.
