NF Railway installs axle counters for safer train operation

Dimapur, April 25 (EMN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NF) has announced that it has installed block proving axle counters (BPAC) in 260 block sections in its jurisdiction. An update from the NF Railway informed on Wednesday. According to the update, BPAC are devices on rail tracks that detect and stops arrival of two trains on the same track decreasing the chances of collision. It is reliable and cost-effective. It reduced the dependence of human agency to verify arrival of trains and enhanced safety of train operation. Without this device, station masters have to visually observe every passage of trains and exchange signals with train guards. The installation of the BPAC is an initiative where technology is being leveraged to ensure safer and error-free movement and monitoring of train movement, the update added.
