Dimapur, Sep. 16 (EMN): Following the mantra “cleanliness is godliness” the Indian Railways launched a cleanliness drive programme from Sep. 15 till Oct. 2 to clean all Railway surroundings, premises, station premises and other premises under the jurisdiction of railways. The senior public relation officer, NF Railway (Construction) in Maligaon issued a press release on Saturday.
On this occasion N F Railway, Construction organisation also organised a mass “Swachhta Pledge” as part of “Swachhta hi Sewa” a fortnight campaign in the main administration building to highlight the present swachhta campaign being undertaken in the country.
The aim of the Swachh Bharat Mission is to achieve a clean and open defecation free India, stated the press release.
The objectives are generating demand for toilets leading to their construction and sustained use by all household members, promoting better hygiene behavior amongst the population and improving cleanliness. The Sawchhta Hi Seva Campaign seeks to mobilize people to come out and get directly involved with the Swachh Bharat Mission by offering shramdaan for swachhta in the fortnight leading upto Gandhi Jayanti.
N K Prasad, general manager, NF Railway, construction led from the front in the campaign in which all the officers and a large number of employees also took part. Prasad also administered a pledge to all its officers and staff in Head Quarters
