As part of the ongoing series of tribal community learning proogramme designed by NEZCC to address the challenges posed by the advent of modernity and the resultant impact created in the society, especially on the urban youth, the fourth group consisting of 3 resource persons and 25 students from the Kuki community successfully completed their training programme today.
The training programme culminated in a simple function at NEZCC where the students performed a traditional folk song learnt during the training period and shared their experiences as to how they have benefitted from such a creative activity.
Lipokmar Tzudir, Director, NEZCC in his brief address said that “Our strength lies in our diversity and respect for each other’s culture. He further said that maintaining one’s own cultural identity is of prime importance while customs and practices are inherited from our forefathers”. He thanked the Resource Persons and the Kuki community leaders for their support and cooperation extended in making the training programme a success.
The special guest on the occasion, Paolal Hangsing, IAS (Rtd), President, Kuki Inpi, Nagaland said that the community Learning programme organized by NEZCC is first of its kind in Nagaland, a milestone in the history of Nagaland and conveyed his gratitude to Director, NEZCC for providing such a platform benefitting the urban youth to learn and understand various facets of their own priceless culture. He exhorted the trainees to take it forward and pass it on to their contemporaries. He also gave away the Certificates to the participants.
In this series, the next group of 3 experts and 25 students from the Konyak Community will commence their learning programme for the next ten days beginning the July 18 in the same venue.
