DIMAPUR — The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, is set to organise a two-day cultural extravaganza as part of the North East Cultural Festival 2023.
Focusing on the theme of ‘North Eastern Dance and Music’, the event will take place at Central Park, Connaught Place, Delhi, on December 16 and 17, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
According to a press release, the festival is organised by Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation Ltd. (DTTDC).
Delhi has a significant population from the North Eastern states besides other states of India. The event aims to use the festival to enhance understanding of the cultures of the North Eastern states.
The release stated that the festival will feature a musical concert and cultural programme, including performances by bands and orchestral music from the North East on both days. Additionally, a folk dance presentation with live music, themed ‘Colours of Northeast India’ and curated by Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee and NEZCC Director Dr. Prashanna Gogoi, will be showcased at the festival.
The festival will also feature individual folk dances and folk music from eight different ethnic tribes or communities across the eight North Eastern states, presented by 125 artists from the region.
Prominent musical bands, including ‘Divine Connection’ from Nagaland and ‘6 Strings’ from Assam, will perform various Western, Bollywood, and North Eastern melodies and folk music during the programme.
