
KISAMA — Billed as ‘Colours of Northeast India,’ the North East Zonal Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, presented a choreographic presentation of folk dance with live music at Kisama on Saturday.
The show was curated by Sangeet Natak Akademi Award recipient and director of NEZCC, Dr. Prashanna Gogoi, and assisted by Rajesh Boro, Anjoy Kachari, Brajen Baro and Rajib Baro. The ‘Colours of Northeast India’ was performed by 180 artistes from the Northeastern states.
Jose Manuel Noronha, chairman of Goa Public Service Commission, was the chief guest of the afternoon session, while, Lt. Gen. HS Sahi, GOC of 3 CORPS, was the honoured guest. Advisor of Technical Education and Transport, Temjenmenba, was the host and MLA C Manpon Konyak was the co-host.
The guest and visitors were enthralled with ‘Cheraw dance’ from the Land of Highlanders (Mizoram), followed with ‘Rikhampada dance’ from the Land of Rising Sun (Arunachal Pradesh) and ‘Hojagiri dance’ from the Land of Handicraft and Music (Tripura).
The Land of Snow Lion and Mountains (Sikkim) presented ‘Tamang Selo dance,’ while the Land of Jewels (Manipur) presented ‘Lai Haraoba dance’ and the Abode of Clouds (Meghalaya) presented ‘Wangala dance.’
The Land of Red Rivers and Blue Hills (Assam) presented a ‘Bihu Nach dance’ and the host state and Land of Festivals (Nagaland) presented ‘Nzanta dance’ represent by the Lotha women.
