Workshop on phonetics held at Jotsoma
DIMAPUR — Ministers' Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, in collaboration with the Department of English, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, organised a one-day workshop for teachers on “The art of speech with phonetics in focus” on Wednesday at RCEMPA, Jotsoma. According to a press release, Viriekhono Keretsü from the Department of English, Kohima Science College, was the resource person for the workshop.
DC Niuland holds coordination meeting
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Niuland, Sara S Jamir, held a coordination meeting with Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, Niuland District GBs’ Association and Aghunaqa Area GBs’ Association on September 1 at her office’s conference hall. The meeting was called to discuss matters pertaining to the eviction of Jalal village and the recent eviction drive carried out by the Assam government in the disturbed area belt (DAB) area between the Gologhat district of Assam and the Niuland district of Nagaland.

Kiphire DTFI holds meeting
DIMAPUR — The Kiphire District Task Force on Immunisation (DTFI) held a meeting at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office on September 2. The meeting was chaired by Takatemjen Pongen, EAC of Kiphire, and Dr. Yelo T Mero, DPO (RCH/UIP), highlighted the physical status report for financial year 2024-25 and 2025-26. He also highlighted the ongoing activities in the district as well as the challenges and way forward to improve immunisation coverage in the district. The National Immunisation Day would be observed on October 12. The committee resolved to ensure regular meetings to strengthen monitoring and supervision so as to improve immunisation coverage.
Sankalp campaign launched in Shamator, Tseminyu
DIMAPUR — With the aim to create awareness on key social issues and welfare schemes, the Shamator district administration and Mission Shakti launched the ten-day special awareness Sankalp campaign at DBs Hall in Shamator town on September 2. The programme began with a pledge-taking ceremony followed by awareness talks and distribution of IEC materials. A DIPR report stated that community leaders, youth, women groups and all heads of offices actively participated at the launch event. Similar programme was also launched at CHC Tseminyu on Wednesday. During the event, EAC of Tseminyu, Molosangla Ozukum, briefed on the programme and Dr. Tikeya Kez was the resource person.
CTYO condoles demise of its advisor
DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima Town Youth Organisation (CTYO) has condoled the demise of its advisor, Keneisetuo Medoze, who was also the head GB of Chümoukedima town and a councillor from Ward 11. It stated that he always stood by the organisation, both in his individual capacity and as an advisor of the organisation. It added that his wise counsel, steadfast support and contributions to the community would always be remembered. It further conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.
Awareness on natural farming held in Tening
DIMAPUR — The office of the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) in Tening under Peren district conducted an awareness programme on natural farming in Tening town on September 2. During the programme, SDAO of Tening, Samsangheile Nchang, highlighted the core pillars of natural farming, which included the use of indigenous (desi) cows, minimum or zero tillage, bio-formulations such as Jeevamrit and Ghan Jeevamrit, and the importance of biodiversity in sustainable agriculture. A DIPR report stated that Agriculture Officer Isapeule emphasised the concept, features, principles and practices of natural farming and urged the farmers to adopt eco-friendly methods for long-term soil health and sustainable productivity. A total of 125 farmers from New Tesen village, Mbaulwa and Tening village attended the programme.
