KMC directs shops to clean and beautify for I-Day


DIMAPUR — Kohima Municipal Council has issued a circular directing all shopkeepers and business establishments within its jurisdiction to clean, beautify, whitewash or paint the front side of their buildings and shops facing the road in view of the forthcoming Independence Day celebration.


Unity Ward 8 residents thank Advisor Hekani


DIMAPUR — The citizens of Unity Ward 8, Naharbari, East Dimapur, have expressed their gratitude to Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor for Industries and Commerce, for initiating and completing the long-awaited road construction in the ward. In a statement issued by the Unity Ward Council, the residents commended her leadership and commitment in providing essential facilities, particularly the much-needed road, to the people. They also thanked the chairperson, EDTC, the dy. chairperson, and the entire team for their initiatives and support in benefiting the community and expressed confidence that this new road will significantly enhance the quality of life for the residents of the ward.

CANSSEA team calls on new chief secretary


DIMAPUR — The Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees’ Association (CANSSEA), led by its president, Zubemo Lotha Tsanglao, called on the Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen at his office chamber on Wednesday. According to an update, during the meeting, the president and team extended their congratulations to Imchen on assuming charge as the new chief secretary of Nagaland and conveyed their best wishes for a fruitful and successful tenure on behalf of all government employees. The association further expressed confidence that under his leadership, the welfare and aspirations of the state's employees will be given due care and attention.


FNR to hold memorial service


DIMAPUR — The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) will hold a memorial service in honour of Dr. Phyobemo Ngully on August 16 at the conference hall of Hotel Grand Vista, Walford, in Dimapur at 2 pm. The service would be chaired by Rev. Dr. Ellen Jamir, and Benlangthung Yanthan, pastor of Lotha Baptist Church, Dimapur, would say a prayer. Speeches would be delivered by Rev. Dr. Wati Aier and Niketu Iralu.


Social work conducted in Wokha


DIMAPUR — In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebration, a district-wide social work was carried out across Wokha district on August 13. A DIPR report stated that the initiative witnessed active participation from all government departments, colony residents and citizens across various localities, reflecting a strong spirit of community cooperation and civic responsibility. It added that cleanliness drives, public space maintenance and beautification efforts were undertaken to ensure a dignified and vibrant atmosphere for the 79th Independence Day celebration in the district.


78 Bn CRPF holds flag hoisting programme


DIMAPUR — As a part of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, the 78 Bn CRPF on Wednesday conducted a flag hoisting ceremony at Don Bosco School in Schu-Zubza. An update from CRPF stated that Sh. Devnath Somkunwar, commandant of 78 Bn CRPF, hoisted the tricolour in the presence of the school’s principal, teachers and students. On the occasion, the students presented folk dances and patriotic songs. Students were also given national flags, sports items and sweets. Meanwhile, the principal and teachers have thanked the battalion for arranging the programme and expressed that such kinds of activities would inspire a feeling of patriotism among the students and help to build a strong nation.


AGOK to hold workshop on educated unemployed youth


DIMAPUR — The Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (AGOK) is scheduled to organise a workshop on educated unemployed youth at NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima, on August 22 at 9 am, on the theme “The ardent need to change the mindset and perspective of educated unemployed youth towards self-reliance”. According to a DIPR report, this workshop is being organised by AGOK in collaboration with its frontal units: NAGOK, SAGOK, WAGOK, and CGOK. To further sensitise and strengthen this initiative on different platforms, APO and all its frontal units, including range and village-level organisations, will be part of the workshop. Faith-based organisations such as ABCC, ACU, ACRCC, NPM, TPM, BRC, and AG, including leaders from the range and village-level bodies representing different departments, will also be part of the workshop. All AGOK members have been requested to attend this programme.
