C L John, Dr. Roland Lotha mourns demise of Dr. Kath
DIMAPUR — The demise of Late Dr. K. Kath, former minister, has drawn condolence messages from C L John, minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and from Dr. Roland Lotha, social worker and politician. In a condolence message, John described him as a sincere, hard-working, and upright citizen, stating that his death is a great loss for the Rengma community and the Nagas. Dr. Lotha, in a separate condolence message, described him as a humble and soft-spoken leader and mourned him as a fatherly figure.
New verification deadlines for Post Matric Scholarship
DIMAPUR — The Department of Higher Education has informed all educational institutions and students that the online verification timeline for the academic session 2025-26 regarding the CSS-Post Matric Scholarship (PMS ST) for ST students of Nagaland via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), i.e., scholarships.gov.in, has been revised. According to an update, the completion of verification by the institutes and correction of defective applications by the students and the institutes is scheduled for December 20. The completion of verification by the state is scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Free assistive devices distributed at Town Hall Tuensang
DIMAPUR — A programme on the distribution of free assistive devices was held at Town Hall, Tuensang, on November 18. According to an update, the event was organised by the Department of Social Welfare, Tuensang, and Chief Medical Officer, Tuensang, in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Co-operation of India (ALIMCO) with P Bashangmongba Chang, minister for Housing and Mechanical (PWD), as special guest. Speaking on the occasion, the minister extended his appreciation to ALIMCO for their continued partnership in serving persons with disabilities with their technical expertise and commitment, ensuring that essential devices reached even the remote corners of India.
DEA Fund awareness camp to be held in Peren on Nov. 21
DIMAPUR — A district-level camp on the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund (DEA Fund) will be organised in Peren district on November 21. Under the guidelines of the Department of Financial Services, Government of India, district-level awareness and assistance camps on the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund (DEA Fund) are being organised across the state of Nagaland as part of the “Your Money, Your Rights” public awareness campaign. According to an update, these camps will continue to be held in various districts until December 31.
International University introduces biannual admission system
DIMAPUR — The International University, Nagaland has announced the introduction of a new biannual admission system (twice every academic year), once in January/February and once in July/August. Updating this in a press release, the varsity said the move is to provide wider flexibility and greater opportunities for aspiring students to enroll in the Degree programme of their choice, aligning with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and supporting the national goal of achieving a 50% Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) by 2035. Vice Chancellor Dr. Dipak Kumar Shukla said that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has encouraged universities to implement a biannual admission system in consultation with their academic councils.
Civil Defence warden and volunteer training begins in Zunheboto
DIMAPUR — The Civil Defence Warden and Volunteers Training, organised by the District Commandant, Home Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Zunheboto, commenced on November 18 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Zunheboto. The seven-day training programme will conclude on November 24. According to an update, Dharam Raj, deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, in his address stressed the need for preparedness, especially in view of global conflicts and increasing uncertainties. He noted that several mock drills have been conducted earlier, but more comprehensive preparation is required to address challenges such as lack of shelter and coordinated response mechanisms.

Lions Club Dimapur offers free diabetes testing
DIMAPUR — Lions Club of Dimapur is observing World Diabetes Day by conducting free diabetes testing and screening at the Lions Health Centre, Midland. The free diabetes testing began on November 1 and will continue until November 30. According to Lions Health Centre chairman PK Jain, more than 50 diabetes tests are carried out daily for public welfare. In a statement, president Sanjay Jaiswal encouraged everyone to avail themselves of the health initiative and spread the word for the greater benefit of the community.
