CTC bans heavy vehicle parking

 

DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima Town Council (CTC) has strictly prohibit parking of heavy vehicles along the National Highway-29 within its jurisdiction from 8 am to 3 pm. It stated that indiscriminate parking of heavy vehicles not only poses safety risks to motorists and pedestrians but also adversely affects the smooth vehicular movement. In this regard, all heavy vehicles are directed to park before 8 am and after 3 pm for loading and unloading of goods. It cautioned that any vehicle found violating the order would be liable to penalties as per the provision of the law. It further informed that the order would come into immediate effect and remain in force till further notice.

 

NBS extends Chhath Puja greetings

 

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Bhojpuri Samaj (NBS) has greeted all the devotees and well-wishers on the occasion of Chhath Puja, which would be observed on October 27 and 28. It informed that NBS has made elaborate arrangements for the devotees at the banks of River Dhansiri in Ura Villa Colony, Dimapur. It has sought the blessings of Chhathi Maiya and Surya Dev for good health, happiness, prosperity and harmony in every home. It also wished that the sacred festival of faith, purity and gratitude strengthen the bonds of unity and togetherness among all communities.

Dimapur Police recover floating body

 

DIMAPUR — Based on telephonic information from GB of UNB- Naga colony, Buma Camp, Dimapur Police on Friday recovered the body of an unidentified floating inside a fishery pond at UNB-Burma Camp. According to police, the body of the non-local, aged around 40-45 yrs, was found in semi-decomposed state. The deceased, around 5.2 ft in height, was wearing black half pants and sky blue T-shirt. On completion of all legal formalities, the body was taken to District Hospital morgue for PM examination and identification. Claimant/relatives/friends of the deceased have been requested to contact the officer-in-charge of East Police Station, Dimapur (Mobile No. 7085055020).

 

Yingli College hosts folk song competition

 

DIMAPUR — The Phom Language Promotion and Translation Cell, Yingli College, Longleng, organised a Phom folk song and recitation competition at Borgohain Hall, on the October 22. The event was conducted in both Phom and English, featuring discussions on Phom language and history, as well as cultural items like folk songs and recitations, a DIPR report stated. The initiative aims to promote Phom language and culture through creative means, with more events planned in the future. The event began with a welcome address by Dr. B Henshet Phom, Vice Principal of Yingli College, who introduced Bü Ashu. Tonghon, Assistant Professor of English, chaired the programme. Konjem, Assistant Professor of Economics, led the invocation, while Dennyi Lakpan and Ayung B Phom presented a special song. Konchem and Phenmei judged the folk competition.


DPC extends condolences to Raymond Ronamai

 

DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Press Club (DPC) has condoled the passing of S Kasiiru Patricia, mother of Raymond Ronamai, Associate Editor of Eastern Mirror. “Born in 1932, Late Patricia hailed from Purul Atongba village in Senapati district, Manipur, and breathed her last on October 23, 2025,” the club stated in a condolence message. “The DPC conveys its heartfelt condolences to Raymond Ronamai and his family during this time of grief. The club stands in solidarity with him and prays that God grant the bereaved family strength and comfort, and that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.”
