Heavy vehicle ban on Sanis-Lakhuti road
DIMAPUR — The Office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sanis, has issued a public notice restricting the movement of heavy commercial vehicles on the Sanis–Lakhuti road from January 30 to February 6, in view of ongoing repair works under PMGSY-II being carried out by the PWD (R&B) Baghty Division. According to the order, continuous plying of heavy traffic has been affecting the durability of the newly repaired road surface, making it necessary to regulate vehicular movement. While heavy vehicles are completely restricted, light motor vehicles will be allowed to ply but are advised to slow down and exercise caution, while passing through the repaired stretches so that the ongoing works are not disrupted. The district administration appealed to the public for cooperation and emphasised that the regulation is issued in the interest of public safety.
FGN holds 7th Tatar Hoho
DIMAPUR — The 7th Tatar Hoho of the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) held on January 29 in Kohima, re-elected K Vadeo and Haingau Zeliang as ‘Kedahge’ and ‘Kedallo,’ respectively for the tenure 2026-2030. The hoho also elected deputy speaker HK Zeliang to the post of speaker for the tenure 2026-2030, the FGN stated in an update. It also filled up the vacancies in the Tatar Hoho. The FGN also noticed that some miscreants are taking the name of the NNC/FGN and indulging in extortion and tax collection activities. The meeting strongly warned those people against tarnishing the name of NNC/FGN for their selfish ends, stating that it would not tolerate such activities and would take disciplinary action in extreme terms.
PTYS to act on illegal taxation
DIMAPUR — Extending solidarity to the decision of the Phek Town Public Forum (PTPF) to put on hold all kind of taxation to all Naga Political Groups (NPGs) from 2026 onwards, and in strict adherence with the State Government order dated April 29, 2024, the Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) stated that it would be compelled to take necessary action in cases of extortion/illegal taxation by any NPGs within Phek town. “This notice is served in the interest of public welfare and peaceful co-existence. In addition, with the existence of multiple and ever growing factions claiming to represent one Naga aspiration, the Phek Town Youth Society calls and encourage all the NPGs to come together and strengthen the Naga national movement in good faith with unity,” the PTYS) stated in a public notice.
NSCN-K (M) marks 47th Raising Day
DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN-K (Michael) commemorated the 47th Raising Day of the NSCN at its central office premises on Saturday. In a press release, the NSCN stated that the Raising Day was celebrated and observed with sincere thanksgiving, devotional service and pledge to God. Speaking at the programme as guest speaker, Kilo Kilonser Nokrang Lanu Aier, extended greetings and paid tribute to the fallen Naga heroes. The kilonser also re-counted on how the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) was formed on January 31, 1980, with the exclusive aim of establishing a sovereign Naga nation. As we have professed "Nagaland for Christ" therefore, he said "that Seeking grace and counsel of the Almighty God would surely conquest upon Naga people's aspiration" and that the sacrifices and blood of the “indomitable Naga soldiers” would not go in vain, he encouraged the gathering to remain strong and resolute, upholding the legacy and forward looking vision. The programme concluded with prayer for the well-being of Naga nation.
NNC/FGN to mark 80th anniversary
DIMAPUR — The Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will celebrate the 80th anniversary of NNC formation on February 2 at 10 am at Chedema Peace Camp, Kohima district. In a statement, the NNC requested all concerned to participate in the function. The NNC also informed all presidents of the regional councils of NNC to celebrate the “historic day” in their respective regions.
