SOUD general meeting on Feb. 14
DIMAPUR — The Sümi Officers' Union Dimapur (SOUD) will convene its general meeting-cum-Baghi Hoho on February 14 at Lhomithi Hall, Western Sümi Hoho Ki, Chekiye village, with H Tovihoto Ayemi, Advisor for Tribal Affairs and Election, as the special guest. The first session (general meeting) will be chaired by Bokato Chishi, vice president of SOUD, an update stated. The meeting will deliberate important agendas and adopt a Baghi resolution, which will be presented by convenor Karen Yepthomi of the resolution committee. In the Baghi Hoho, Y Ruth Muru, president of SOUD, will deliver the presidential address. Greetings will be extended by representatives from various Sümi frontal organizations. The union will also announce its new office bearers for the tenure 2026-28.
AKM condoles Dr. Kiremwati’s demise
DIMAPUR — The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) has extended condolences on the passing of Dr. Kiremwati, the first Naga M.Sc. (Geology), the First Director of Higher and Technical Education, and the first Naga Pro-Vice Chancellor of North Eastern Hills University. In a condolence message, the AKM stated that Dr. Kiremwati was a distinguished educationist and administrator, humble, patriotic, hardworking, and a man of rare and exceptional qualities. “A visionary leader and a true son of the soil, he dedicated his life to the service of the Naga people. His tireless contributions to the fields of education and community service have left an indelible mark on the state” the message read.
NSCN (Akato) condoles kilonser’s passing
DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN-R (Akato) has condoled the death of Kilonser L Honito Swu, head GB of Lotovi village on February 11. In a condolence message, the group acknowledged the “voluntary and selfless national service” rendered by Swu. “The late leader leaves behind his legacy as a simple and honest yet an indefatigable 'Nationalist' for all his compatriots to cherish on,” it stated. “As the village headman, he also leaves behind his indelible trails as the defender and custodian of traditional values, a village pioneer, a frontrunner, a public leader and a social reformer,” the message added.
NSCN (YA) allocates portfolios
DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (YA) allocated John Pou, kilonser, the portfolio of Revenue/Trade and Commerce of Manipur state and Along Y Naga, kilonser, the portfolio Revenue/Trade and Commerce of Nagaland state. In a press release, the group informed that the directive will remain effective till further notice. “Henceforth, all the concerned departments, business establishments and construction companies in Manipur and Nagaland are strictly informed to deal with the duly assigned authorities to avoid any misunderstanding. We strongly cautioned all the above against making payments to fraudsters and imposters or they will be doing so at their own risk,” it stated.
