Nagaland to observe Parakram Diwas
KOHIMA — The Parakram Diwas 2026 (cultural programme) commemorating Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's 129th birth anniversary will take place on January 23 at 11 am at the State Academy Hall, Kohima. The event is being organised by the NEZCC Dimapur, in collaboration with the Art and Culture department, Government of Nagaland. Kudecho Khamo, Advisor, CAWD and Taxes, will be the special guest. The event will witness cultural performances by Khriekesa Kro, Tesophenyu Students’ Union, Kuzhami Cultural Society and Rhythm Music Centre, Dimapur. The event aims to honour Netaji's legacy and contributions to India's freedom struggle, according to Teisovikuolie Therie, Deputy Director-cum- Nodal Officer, Art and Culture Department.
Phangnon extends Kuhlang-Nyi greetings
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Rajya Sabha MP S Phangnon Konyak, has extended greetings to the Tikhir community on the occasion of Kuhlang-Nyi festival. In a greeting message, Phangnon expressed hope that “this meaningful and vibrant festival ushers in renewed hope, harmony, and goodwill, while strengthening the bonds of togetherness within the community.” She further conveyed her best wishes for peace, prosperity, and blessings in every sphere of life, and continued well-being of all.
ADC Peren issues travel advisory
DIMAPUR — In view of the bituminous surfacing work from Peren Kipeujang to Peren Headquarters, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Peren, D Robin, has issued a travel advisory informing that the road stretch from Peren Namdi to Peren Headquarters via Peren Government College will remain closed to all vehicular traffic from January 21 to the 28th. According to a DIPR report, the ADC also advised and requested all vehicles to use the alternative route from Old Chalkot Junction to Peren Headquarters via New Peren village during the period.
NSCN (K-V) mourns kilonser's loss
DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Khango–Vusshe) has condoled the demise of Nilholi Zhimo, mother of Hukavi Zhimo, kilonser and chairman UT-1, who passed away on January 13 at Shokhuvi village. In a condolence message, the group stated that Nilholi Zhimo was a God- fearing mother who dedicated her life to God and served in various capacities in the church ministry. “The NSCN/GPRN conveys heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prays that the Almighty God grant solace in this moment of grief,” the message read.
