G&M department mandates permit for ground water extraction
DIMAPUR — Director of Geology and Mining, Dr. Kenyelo Rengma, in a public notice, informed that all drilling agencies/firms, including manual hand-boring parties operating within the state of Nagaland, are required to obtain a permit and register their machinery and equipment with the Directorate of Geology & Mining. All commercial and industrial users of groundwater (such as water bottling plants, car wash centres, water parks, etc.) have also been also directed to obtain permit for groundwater extraction from the department. Application forms can be collected from the G&M directorate, Dimapur, during office working hours. The registration process should be completed by November 30, 2025.
Draft list of Kohima polling stations
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has announced that a draft list of polling stations has been prepared for the Kohima district as part of the rationalisation process. The list is available for public inspection at the notice board and Election Branch of the Deputy Commissioner's office. Interested parties are invited to review the list and submit any written objections to the deputy commissioner's office by September 24, a DIPR report stated.

Mon DPDB meeting on September 26
DIMAPUR — The Mon District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for the month of September will be held on September 26 at 11:30 am at DC’s conference hall. According to an official bulletin, all the concerned members have been informed to attend the meeting without fail.
AKA orientation held in Tuensang
DIMAPUR — District orientation programme for Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan (AKA) in respect of Tuensang district was held at the DC’s conference hall, Tuensang, on Friday. The programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shelley Katiry, and a presentation was delivered by district master trainer and JE, PHED, Akhangjongshi Chang, a DIPR report stated. The orientation programme was attended by the line departments from the district, block nodal officers, block master trainers, civil society organisations and NGOs from Tuensang.
SCC Red Ribbon Club stages street plays
DIMAPUR — As part of the two-month IEC campaign launched by National AIDS Control Society (NACS), the Red Ribbon Club of Sao Chang College, Tuensang, conducted an awareness campaign on HIV &AIDS by performing street plays and flash mobs in five different locations in Tuensang town. The students were divided into two groups: one group covered two locations in main town, namely Clock Tower and Bazaar area, while the second group performed in the college campus, NAP taxi stand, and Eklavya Model Residential School, the college stated in an update. The campaign sought to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS among the general public by disseminating accurate information and highlighting the importance of ending discrimination against those living with the infection.
1 injured in Kohima road accident
DIMAPUR — A traffic accident occurred on Friday at Secretariat Road in Kohima, involving a Maruti car and a lady riding a scooty. According to police sources, the incident occurred around 9:30 am when the speeding Maruti car veered off its lane and collided with the scooty coming from the opposite direction. The lady rider was hospitalised, while the two occupants of the Maruti car were arrested and taken into police custody. When contacted, Additional SP and PRO Kohima said that detailed report is awaited. (Our Correspondent)
NSCN (Niki) discharges cadre
DIMAPUR — Niki Sumi-led NSCN/GPRN has discharged its tatar, Husaka Shikhu of Awotsakili village from active national service on health ground. A discharge Azha issued from the office of Ato kilonser stated that the selfless service rendered by him for the cause of the nation would be noted and remembered in the annals of the Naga history. Meanwhile, it has asked the concerned person to immediately report at the office of its national tatar hoho from the date of receipt of this order.
JN Aier College conducted awareness on HIV
DIMAPUR — The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of JN Aier College, in collaboration with District Integrated Strategy for HIV & AIDS (DISHA), Dimapur, conducted an HIV awareness seminar along with free HIV screening on Friday at the college premises. Pauramzeule, manager-cum-counsellor of Sampoorna Suraksha Kendra (SSK) at District Hospital Dimapur, was the speaker. She highlighted the need to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS, dispel misconceptions and promote preventive measures. The programme concluded with a positive impact on all participants.
