Konyak Union endorses Naga Oxford declaration


DIMAPUR — The Konyak Union (KU) has endorsed the Naga Oxford Declaration on repatriation propounded by the Naga tribal leaders on June 13 at Pitt Rivers Museum, University of Oxford. In a press release, the KU conveyed appreciation to the initiative of the Forum of Naga Reconciliation (FNR) and sincerity of the Recover Restore and Decolonise (RRaD) to reclaim the human remains of “our ancestors that had been taken away without our consent which are being kept in the Pitt Rivers Museum (Oxford).” The union stated that it genuinely believes that repatriation is necessary to “bring solace to our ancestors.”


DDCF holds consultative meeting


DIMAPUR — The Dimapur District Citizens' Forum (DDCF) held a consultative meeting on June 28 at Lotha Hoho Ki, Dimapur. The meeting was attended by the interim office bearers, executive members, presidents/chairmen of affiliated organisations and the advisors, an update stated. The meeting's consensus was to strengthen the Forum for the welfare and rights of Dimapur's genuine settlers, regardless of tribe or community. Members also emphasised that ILP implementation in Dimapur should be people-friendly, considering the district's diverse population, including literate and illiterate sections.


No ASF outbreak in Dimapur


DIMAPUR — The Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) of Veterinary Hospital, Dimapur, Dr. Eyekhweshe Kapfo, on June 28, confirmed that no cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) have been detected in the district to date. It may be mentioned that following the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak in Sechü Zubza and Viswema villages in Kohima district, the areas were declared infected and surveillance zones on June 27 for control and containment. Earlier, an ASF outbreak was confirmed in Longleng district's Yachem village, where several pigs died in March, prompting the deputy commissioner to issue a notice on March 19. (Our Reporter)
