Prison department releases list of shortlisted candidates

 

DIMAPUR — Director General of Prisons, Renchamo P Kikon, has informed that the list of candidates shortlisted by the departmental recruitment board for the written test has been uploaded in the Prison department website http://prisons.nagaland.gov.in and the notice board of the Prison directorate, Kohima. According to a DIPR report, this is in pursuance to the Office Advertisement NO. PRI/HQ/ESTT-559/22, dated 22nd May 2025, and in continuation to the office notice dated 15th August 2025 and 11thSeptember 2025.

 

NU scholar Luwang awarded Best Agricultural Engineer

 

DIMAPUR — Salam Lamyanba Luwang, PhD Research Scholar from Nagaland University’s Dept. of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, was awarded the Best Agricultural Engineer. The award was conferred during FutureAg-2025, the 11th National Conference ‘Advancing food & farming for sustainable future,’ organised by Dept. of Agriculture, Suresh Gyan Vihar University, Jaipur, in collaboration with Just Agriculture Communications Group & ISAHRD Society, on September 9 and the 10th , an update stated. Luwang works in the area of soil and water conservation engineering. His research ‘Assessing the impact and control of soil erosion in hilly terrain of Nagaland, India,’ is being supervised by Prof. Prabhakar Sharma, Dept. of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, NU.

KLH condemns alleged murder

 

DIMAPUR — The Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH) has condemned the alleged murder of Zuchanbemo Tungoe, son of late Mhonchan Tungoe of New Changsu village under Wokha district, at Lerie colony, Kohima, on September 24. In a press release, the hoho stated that the body of Zuchanbemo, a constable of DEF Tuensang currently attached to the Crime Branch, PHQ, Kohima, was found under mysterious circumstances with a bullet shot inflicted to his head and a weapon lying beside him. “KLH questions the perpetrators as to how a law enforcing personnel was murdered in such a gruesome manner and appeals to the investigating agencies to apprehend the culprit's immediately and accord the severest of punishment and serve justice to the family,” the hoho stated.

 

Medical camp held at Chozuba town

 

DIMAPUR — A medical camp organised by the office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chozuba; Chozuba Youth Association and Chozuba Town Chakhesang Students’ Union, in collaboration with Community Health Centre, Chozuba, was conducted at Y Junction Bus Stop, Chozuba town on Thursday. The event was held in view of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025, under Swachh Bharat Mission initiative, a DIPR report stated.

 

PHED conducts state-wide cleanliness drive


DIMAPUR — Commemorating nationwide fortnight campaign “Swachhata Hi Seva 2025” on the theme “Swachhotsav,” the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) on Thursday observed ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ by conducting a state-wide cleanliness drive. The state-level cleanliness drive was conducted in and around the PHED Directorate in Kohima. The initiative is a call to action to contribute one hour of voluntary swachhata service. The initiative was undertaken by PHED to promote cleanliness and reinforce the importance of collective responsibility towards maintaining hygienic and sustainable environment. This was stated by Thepfulie, state IEC consultant, WSSO, PHED.
