Child Aadhaar camp from August 3-14
DIMAPUR — The Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Nagaland, will organise a Child Aadhaar enrolment camp for children aged 0-5 years at the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Kohima, and District Economics and Statistics Offices (DESOs) across the state from August 3 to the 14th, in pursuance of a directive issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). According to a DIPR report, Aadhaar-linked birth registration for children aged 0-5 years will ensure that every child is registered at birth and linked with Aadhaar. Early registration of children in the national identity system will ensure their inclusion in various government services and welfare schemes and help support better planning and delivery of child-centric programmes. The department requested parents or legal guardians of eligible children to enrol their children for Child Aadhaar by visiting the designated enrolment centres at the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Nagaland, Kohima, and DESOs across the state.
Road clearance work in Mokokchung
DIMAPUR — Following heavy rainfall and landslides in Mokokchung district, the PWD (NH), Tuli division has undertaken clearance operations along NH-02 between Tuli and Merangkong on July 23 to restore safe and smooth traffic movement. According to a DIPR report, machinery and personnel have been deployed to clear debris and restoration efforts are progressing swiftly to reopen the affected stretch at the earliest.
DDMA Longleng reviews damage
DIMAPUR — The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Longleng, held an emergency meeting at the DC's conference hall, Longleng, on Friday 24 under the chairmanship of EAC Yachem C Tsalimse Sangtam. According to a DIPR report, the chairman entrusted all HoDs under the DDMA to verify details of damage to property, livestock and houses in every village and fill in the format provided by the Home Department. The chairman also informed the house that the DDMA has set up a district emergency control room at the DC's office and urged all HoDs to report any casualties. Tsalimse also informed the house that the restoration of road connectivity would take two to three weeks and that fuel and other essential commodities were limited. He informed the officers to ensure the limited use of scarce resources until the roads are restored and to convey the same to their respective departments.
Dimapur DPDB meeting on July 27
DIMAPUR — The monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Dimapur for July 2026 will be held on July 27 at 11:30 a.m. at the DC's conference hall, Dimapur. According to a notice issued by the Office of the District Planning Machinery, Dimapur, Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman, DPDB, Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, has requested all members to attend the meeting positively.
NSCN/GPRN (K) cracks down on late-night lounge culture
DIMAPUR — The Michael-led NSCN/GPRN (K) has directed all lounges and similar establishments in Dimapur to follow new operating guidelines aimed at maintaining public peace and order. In a circular, the organisation said the rise in late-night gatherings has led many youths to neglect their academic, professional, social and family responsibilities, adversely affecting their health, discipline, productivity and future prospects. It said the decision followed numerous complaints from concerned citizens and parents and was intended to protect moral values while curbing what it described as increasing immoral activities and crime. The measures, it added, will be introduced in phases to promote discipline and responsible consumption. Citing the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989, the organisation noted that the law has neither been effectively implemented nor repealed. With immediate effect, it directed all lounges and similar establishments to close by 11 pm and prohibited the operation of nightclubs and discotheques. It also urged citizens, civil society organisations and political groups to cooperate in addressing the growing social menace.
