DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima Village Council (CVC) has expressed resentment that despite repeated public clarifications to refrain from referring to the Tsiedukhru Range as ‘Pagala Pahar,’ several media houses, social media users, and YouTubers continue to use the disparaging nomenclature. In a public notice, the CVC asserted that Tsiedukhru Range holds deep traditional and historical significance for Chümoukedima and its natives, being closely tied to the village's folklores and legends. “Reducing a revered place of heritage to a slang term is not only offensive but also an intentional attempt to undermine and belittle the village's history,” it stated. The CVC cautioned that henceforth, any person, group, or agency using the slang ‘Pagala Pahar’ in reference to Tsiedukhru Range shall face appropriate legal action or punitive measures as deemed fit under customary practice.
