DC Kohima cracks down on encroachments

 

DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has issued an order directing the immediate removal of various forms of roadside encroachments across Kohima city. According to the order, construction materials, off-road vehicles, unhygienic latrines, pig sties, and other similar structures placed along roadsides have encroached upon the national highway right-of-way and adjoining areas. Such encroachments, it stated, not only obstruct the ROW but also compromise road safety, pose health hazards, and contribute to environmental degradation. The order further cautioned that failure to comply will result in removal of the unauthorised structures, materials, and vehicles by the competent authority without further notice. The expenses incurred during the clearance drive will be borne by the defaulters.

 

Advent celebration in Dimapur on Dec. 1

 

DIMAPUR —  The Dimapur Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (DBPF), Dimapur Baptist Women Union (DBWU), and Baptist Youth Fellowship Dimapur (BYFD), are jointly organising an Advent celebration titled ‘The gift of love’ on December 1 at DDSC Stadium, Golaghat Road, Dimapur. “This Advent celebration is open to all the citizens of Dimapur and we warmly welcome everyone to join us as we prepare our hearts for the Christmas season through fellowship and the sharing of God’s love,” the BYFD stated in a press release.

e-KYC deadline for Dimapur beneficiaries

 

DIMAPUR — The Department of Food & Civil Supplies has notified all the PHH and AAY beneficiaries who have not done e-KYC under Dimapur (inclusive of Niuland and Chümoukedima districts) district to complete the exercise of e-KYC of ration card holder as well as all the family members included in the ration card by December 10, through respective FPSs or Mera e-KYC mobile app. The app is available for download on the Play Store for Android users and on the Apple Store for IOS users, the department stated in a circular. “This exercise of e-KYC for NFSA beneficiaries is essential for ensuring transparency, preventing duplication and facilitating seamless allocation under PDS. It is also to be noted that it is mandatory for NFSA beneficiaries (both PHH and AAY ration card beneficiaries) to do e-KYC,” it stated.

 

DDMA Meluri holds review meeting

 

DIMAPUR — The third quarterly meeting of the Meluri District Disaster Management Authority was held on November 27 at DB's Court, Meluri. In his address, Deputy Commissioner K Mhathung Tsanglao stressed the scarcity of water in Meluri town, citing the suspension of the bridge over River Tizu, which carries the water pipeline, washed away by the flash flood during the last monsoon, cutting off the lifeline of water supply to the town, a DIPR report stated. The DC also informed that the major concern at present is the restoration of the water pipeline and requested the concerned department, as well as the community, to participate in solving the issue at the earliest possible time. The meeting was attended by all heads of offices and Meluri Town councillors.

 

TRAI to organise COP in Wokha

 

DIMAPUR — The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will be organising a Consumer Outreach Programme (COP) on December 4 at Mount Tiyi College, MTC Colony, Wokha, at 10 am. The COP is to create awareness among telecom consumers and other stakeholders of Nagaland about various initiatives taken up by TRAI to protect the interest of telecom consumers. The outreach programme will witness vivid discussions on TRAI's consumer centric approaches, how to protect the consumers from spam calls etc. Students, senior TRAI officials, representatives from government organisations, telecom service providers, and consumers of telecom and broadcasting services are expected to participate in the programme.

 

UNPG/NNC terminates kilonser


DIMAPUR — The UNPG/NNC government has terminated kilonser Tono Zhimomi from national service with effect from November 27, following completion of due disciplinary procedure. The dismissal was executed in accordance with the Yehzabo based on the findings and recommendation of the disciplinary committee, the UNPG/NNC stated in an update.  The public has been advised not to “entertain the said individual in any matter.” Meanwhile, kilonser Khekaho Achumi (contact no.9856206795) has taken over the duties and responsibilities previously handled by Tono Zhimomi, with immediate effect.
