Nagaland to join nationwide Constitution Day celebration
DIMAPUR — Principal Secretary and Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha has announced that Nagaland will join the rest of the country in celebrating Constitution Day on November 26, marking the adoption of the Constitution of India. This coincides with the culmination of year-long celebrations themed 'Hamara Samvidhan - Hamara Swabhiman. In a circular, the home commissioner requested all the AHoDs to give instructions for organising programme in the directorates and all district offices of respective departments. It also informed that the Preamble to the Constitution during the programme. “It may also be instructed to upload the videos of the mass preamble readings on the website www.constitution75.com. A report of action taken may be submitted by all HoDs to Home Department positively,” the circular stated.
ADC Tuli imposes ban on pork products
DIMAPUR — The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tuli sub-division, Mokokchung, Imsenperong Wati, has issued an order imposing an immediate and total ban on the slaughter, import, export, and transportation of pigs and pork products in Tuli sub-division. According to a DIPR report, the decision follows reports of several pigs dying with symptoms suspected to be African Swine Fever (ASF). According to the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, rapid test kits have indicated ASF like results and serum samples have been sent for laboratory confirmation. The administration has directed that all pig deaths must be reported immediately to the district administration and the Veterinary department. The ban will remain in force until further notice and any violation will be punishable under relevant laws, considering the urgency of the situation, it stated.

NSLSA to offer free legal aid at Hornbill Fest
DIMAPUR — As part of the annual Hornbill Festival, the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority will be setting up 10-day legal services stall at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. In a press release, the NSLSA stated that its legal services stall will offer free services during the festival. Visitors can access legal literature and booklets on new laws, acts, and rules, translated into local Naga dialects and Nagamese, free of cost. The stall, staffed by para legal volunteers and panel lawyers, will provide free legal advice, consultation, assistance, and representation from December 1 to the 10th. People can also inquire about Lok Adalats, mediation, victim compensation, legal aid defence counsels, and early release of under trial prisoners, among other services.
Mass social work in Kohima on Nov. 28
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has issued a meeting circular regarding the mass social work scheduled for November 28 from 6 am onwards. As per the directive of the home commissioner, a coordination meeting with the social work team leaders has been convened on November 27 at 3 pm at the DC's conference hall, a DIPR report stated. All the team leaders assigned for the mass social work or their responsible representatives have been requested to attend the co-ordination meeting for smooth and successful conduct of the social work.
