Nominations invited for Governor’s Award
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima and chairman of the Kohima District Level Committee, B Henok Buchem, has issued a notification informing that nominations are invited for the Governor’s Award for distinction in the fields of Arts, Music and Literature for the year 2026. The notification was issued in pursuance of a letter received from the Directorate of Art and Culture. According to the notification, nominations must be submitted in accordance with the prescribed guidelines and procedures. The Personal Information Form should be duly filled in, and six copies of the recommendation or citation, duly signed by the recommending authority, are to be submitted. All required documents must reach the office on or before May 5. It was also informed that the award will be announced on the occasion of Independence Day 2026.
Meeting held on Jal Mahotsav 2026
DIMAPUR — The District Level Committee for the Water and Sanitation Mission for the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in respect of Phek district held a meeting at the DC's conference hall in Phek on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner of Phek Rhosietho Nguori. According to a DIPR report, Executive Engineer (Public Health Engineering Department) Narisen Jami addressed the meeting and gave an overview of the preparation plan for Jal Mahotsav 2026. He also highlighted the core objective and vision of the initiative. The meeting then reviewed the ongoing activities under the scheme in the district. The members also decided to form the District Technical Unit and the Source Sustenance Committee.
Drone assembly workshop underway at Nagaland University
DIMAPUR — A six-day drone assembly and programming training workshop is underway from March 16 to the 21st at the School of Engineering and Technology, Nagaland University (SET-NU), Kohima Campus, Meriema. The workshop is being organised by the Training and Placement Cell, SET-NU, in collaboration with Rotorize Aviation Pvt. Ltd., according to an update. In the workshop, three batches of students are being trained in drone technology, assembly, and programming. A flight simulator tool is being used to demonstrate drone operations and flight simulation. Students are also getting hands-on experience on how to operate real drones, assemble them using different parts, and program them for specific tasks.
MARCOFED and BBSSL sign MoU
DIMAPUR — A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Nagaland State Cooperative Marketing and Consumers’ Federation Limited (MARCOFED), Nagaland, and the Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) on Wednesday to strengthen cooperative initiatives in the agriculture and allied sectors. An update mentioned that BBSSL is a national-level multi-state cooperative society established to promote the production, procurement, and distribution of quality seeds and to support farmers through improved access to modern agricultural inputs and technologies. Under this partnership, MARCOFED will serve as the channel partner for the state of Nagaland, facilitating the implementation, coordination, and promotion of BBSSL’s programmes and activities across the state. This collaboration aims to enhance agricultural productivity, support farmers, and promote sustainable development through cooperative efforts.
Assam Rifles distributes sports items to GSUCD
DIMAPUR — The 22 Assam Rifles, Ghaspani Battalion, distributed sports items to the Gorkha Students' Union Chümoukedima District (GSUCD) under the OP Sadbhavna Project 2025–2026 at the union office on Wednesday. In a press release, the union applauded the Ghaspani Battalion for their continuous support through such meaningful initiatives. It was mentioned that the initiative was taken by Jacob Sundas, former president of GSUCD. The distribution programme was attended by dignitaries from the Chümoukedima District Gorkha Union, Chümoukedima Town Gorkha Youth, Gorkha Union Chümoukedima Town, and Chümoukedima Town Gorkha Women Society.
NNC/FGN monthly meeting on March 30
DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will be held at the Transit Peace Camp (TPC), Kohima, at 10 am on March 30. According to an update, all the central authorities, regional authorities, leaders of the Naga Women Federation (NWF), leaders of the Naga Youth Federation (NYF), and eligible Naga Army officers of the NNC/FGN have been requested to attend the meeting.
NCSU general meeting on March 24
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Contractors' and Suppliers' Union (NCSU) head office in Kohima has convened a general meeting at the NCSU conference hall on March 24 at 12 noon. According to an update, the meeting has been called with reference to the state government notification regarding the "Rules for Registration of Construction” under the Nagaland government. All bona fide members have been informed to attend the meeting without fail.
