NPSC chairman, members sworn in
DIMAPUR — The new chairman of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), A Pitoho Chophy and members Kenilo Apon, Athel O Lotha, and S Temsuwati Angh were sworn in on Friday. According to a DIPR report, Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen administered oath of secrecy at the conference hall of Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima. The ceremony was presided over by Commissioner & Secretary Mohammed Ali Shihab A, and attended by senior government officials and NPSC department officers, staff and family members.
CTC notifies on trade license renewal
DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima Town Council (CTC) has informed all business establishments under CTC that renewal of trade license and fresh registration of firms will be done from February 9 to April 30. In an order, the ADC and executive officer of CTC, directed all the business establishments to register/renew their trade licenses as per Nagaland Municipal Act 2023, Municipal Act Chapter 1 Section 124 (1)(h), failing which, defaulter(s) will be strictly dealt with as per the provisions of the law.

DIMAPUR — The Department of Law and Justice has informed that in pursuance of Section 5 (1) of the Right to Information Act 2005, the Governor of Nagaland has designated Wekou Mero, Deputy Legal Remembrancer, Assistant Public Information office, as deemed Public Information Officer (PIO) in respect of the Law and Justice department.
V Dozo elected new NNC president
DIMAPUR — The Naga National Council (NNC) and Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) held a joint national assembly on January 13, 2025, at Thuvopisu village, where they elected new leaders. Vekronu Dozo was elected NNC president, and Gen. (Retd.) T Rhakho was re-elected kedahge of FGN. In a press release, Tsorisa Nusori, kilo kilonser-cum-speaker, Tatar Hoho, FGN, stated that the elected leadership for 2026–2030 was installed on January 14, 2026, with the FGN swearing in a new team. The newly appointed officials include Tokuho Swu as law and justice kilonser, Suhu Hȕrah as shenta kilonser, and Kudukhoyi Vero as rali wali kilonser, FGN.
NNC/GDRN (NA) terminates cadre
DIMAPUR — The NNC/GDRN (N-A) has terminated Zakato Swu of Zuxushe village under Bhandari sub-division, Wokha district, from active and primary membership for his involvement in anti-party activities. An update issued by its MIP secretary stated that Swu no longer represents the NNC/GDRN (N-A) in any capacity. It added that all privileges accorded to him have been withdrawn with immediate effect.
GPRN/NSCN discharges ACL Awomi
DIMAPUR — The GPRN/NSCN (Camp Khehoyi) has discharged Nihokhu Awomi, advisor to the collective leadership (ACL) from active Naga national service effective from January 23. In a discharge statement on Friday, the GPRN/ NSCN acknowledged the “dedication and contribution” of Awomi in different capacities in the Naga national movement. “His service has been a valued asset to the Naga Nation,” it added.
CAMA condemns rape of minor
DIMAPUR — The Chokri Area Mother's Association (CAMA) has condemned the “brutal rape” of a minor on January 19 allegedly by Zavupra Nyekha, a resident of Chesezu village. In a condemnation note, the association stated that the heinous crime has shook the conscience of the people, especially women. The CAMA urged authorities to conduct a fair and thorough investigation and ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice according to law. “While seeking justice against this inhuman act, the association sincerely prays for the emotional and physical healing of the minor,” it stated.
