  • Kohima Forest Division announces slogan contest winners

  • DIMAPUR — The Kohima Forest Division has announced the winners of the online Open Slogan Competition held in commemoration of World Environment Day, themed “Ending plastic pollution globally”. According to an update, the first prize was awarded to Leye Konyak for the slogan “Don’t Let Plastic Outlive Us!”; the second prize went to Javizo Metha for “Unwrap the World from the Use of Plastic”; and the third prize was awarded to Khriezokhonuo for the acronym-based slogan “P – Please, L – Look, A – Around, S – See, T – That, I – I’m, C – Controlled, Cause I’m Everywhere”. Winners were selected based on previously laid-out criteria and have been requested to collect their cash prizes from the Office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Kohima Forest Division, at the Forest Office Complex below MHBHSS, on June 10 at 12 noon, with ID proof for verification.

  • Online ILP sanitisation training held in Tuensang

  • DIMAPUR — A sanitisation training on the online Inner Line Permit (ILP) was held at the DC conference hall, Tuensang, on Wednesday. According to a DIPR report, Vinho Swu, EAC (P), and Shekhozo Vero, EAC (P), gave a brief introduction and training on the implementation of the online ILP issuance in Tuensang district during the programme. The event was attended by stakeholders from Tuensang Town All Wards Union, Tuensang Chamber of Commerce, Gorkha Union, Muslim community, Hindu community, All Nagaland Private School Association, and Government School Association, Tuensang. The programme was chaired by Dr. Zujanbeni N Ngulli and moderated by DC Tuensang Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa.

  • Alcohol, drug abuse awareness prog. to be held in Phek

  • DIMAPUR — An awareness programme on alcohol and drug abuse will be organised by the District Level Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee for Phek on June 6 at 11 am in Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall, Chozuba. According to a DIPR report, Dr. Diana Patton, ADC, will give the keynote address, while Dr. Cthitu Nienu, EAC, will be the moderator and chairperson of the programme. Brief highlights of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act will be presented by Lulun Singson, officer-in-charge of Police Station, Chozuba. The session on alcohol and drug abuse will be shared by the data monitoring and documentation officer of Disha for HIV and AIDS, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society, National AIDS Control Organisation.

  • Landslide on NH-2 disrupts traffic, strands vehicles

  • DIMAPUR — Incessant rainfall has triggered a landslide along National Highway-2, causing significant damage between Phesama and Kisama and leaving several vehicles stranded on both sides of the affected stretch. According to a DIPR report, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang visited the site to assess an alternative road on May 3. The district administration of Jakhama Sub-Division, led by SDO (Civil) Veneikho Tetso, provided some relief to stranded vehicles and coordinated initial response efforts. Local organisations also stepped in to assist. Youth members from Phesama Baptist Church and the Phesama Youth Organisation constructed temporary footpaths to help stranded travellers navigate the damaged area. They also distributed tea and snacks to those affected.

  • CNSA to hold 5th general conference in Dimapur

  • DIMAPUR — The Central Nagaland Students' Association (CNSA) is set to host its 5th general conference on June 5 and 6 at IMC Hall, Dimapur, on the theme "Power of possibilities". An update stated that the main function on June 6 will be attended by Metsubo Jamir, Minister of Rural Development and SIRD, as the chief guest, and the inaugural session on June 5 will feature Moatoshi Longkumer, Advisor for Labour, Employment and Skill Development and Excise, as the special guest. Dr Andrew Ahoto, chairman of the Livingstone Foundation Group of Institutions, will be the theme speaker of the event. The valedictory session on June 6 will host Athel O Lotha, Commissioner and Secretary of the Art and Culture department, as the special guest, and the cultural unveil and CNSA Night will be attended by Thungchanbemo Tungoe, Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO of Dimapur Municipal Council.

  • WSSU celebrates World Environment Day

  • DIMAPUR — The Office of the Western Sümi Students' Union (WSSU) celebrated World Environment Day on the theme "Ending plastic pollution globally" at the WSSU Office. According to an update, as part of the celebration, the union distributed tree saplings to its units and sub-units to be planted at their respective offices. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Forest department.

  • Peren DPDB meeting scheduled for June 6

  • DIMAPUR — The monthly meeting of the Peren District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) has been scheduled for June 6 at 11 am in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Peren. According to an update, the deputy chief minister, Planning and Transformation and National Highways, and chairman of the DPDB, Peren, has requested strict attendance of all DPDB members. All concerned members have been asked to attend the meeting without fail.
