BJP organisations fete new state president
State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) kisan morcha and the ST morcha have congratulated Temjen Imna Along, minister of higher & technical department, on his appointment as state BJP president. The kisan morcha president, Matthew K Janger, hope that the party would grow stronger and bring about changes in the Naga society under his leadership. The ST morcha national executive member Thrijungliba Sangtam also hoped that his appointment would fulfil the long desired needs of the people.
State to observe yoga day
Department of youth resources and sports has announced to commemorate the 4th International Day of Yoga at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima on June 21 at 7 am.
DPC reschedules election
The proposed election of new office bearers of the Dimapur Press Club (DPC) scheduled on June 28 at Press Point in Super Market, Dimapur, has been postponed to July 5.
RMSA teachers convene meeting
The Nagaland Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NRMSATA) 2016 has convened a joint executive meeting on June 22 at TU Building near Dimapur taxi stand in Kohima at 11 am. The meeting has been convened to elect new office bearers for the year 2018–20. All the district convenors and three representative from each district are informed to attend the meeting.
Eastern Christian College to hold lecture
Department of political science of Eastern Christian College has announced to organise its 1st annual lecture on June 22 in its college auditorium at 11 am. The topic for the programme will be “Freedom of press and its restrictions [Article 19 (2)].” Publisher of Morung Express and expert in conflict and peace studies, Dr. Akum Longchari, will be the resource persons. The department has invited all the students to the programme.
Secretariat drivers convenes meeting
Nagaland secretariat drivers’ union (NSDU) - ‘TPT Special Pool, Kohima,’ has convened its 24th general meeting cum farewell service on June 23 at Ungma Kiti near Hotel Cimorb, Old Minister’s Hill, Kohima. NSDU general secretary, Ruouolatuo, has requested all the union members to attend the said programme.
Doyang Lotha hoho informs commuters
Doyang Lotha Hoho has informed all the commuters and public that the Wokha- Maraju road would be closed on account of Doyang hydro bridge repairing, which is on the verge of collapse. The hoho general secretary, Elyamo Yanthan has requested all the commuters to abstain from taking journey on the said road from June 22-24.
District transport officer informs
District transport officer, motor vehicles department, Dimapur, has informed that its office, which was closed for three weeks for upgrading to Vahan 4.0 and Sarathi 4.0 will be re-opened on June 20.
State appoints NSCPCR chairperson
In the interest of public service and in pursuance to section 17 of commission for protection of child rights act 2005 and as per the recommendation of the selection committee vide meeting minutes dated June 4, 2018, state government has appointed Awan Konyak as chairperson of Nagaland state commission for protection of child rights (NSCPCR). The commission will exercise power and perform functions assigned to as conferred under the Act with its headquarter in Kohima. The chairperson and members would hold office for a term of three years from the date on which he/she assumes office. The service conditions of the chairperson and members would be regulated as prescribed under the Act.
