Kohima’s DC notifies shopkeepers
Deputy commissioner and chairman DLCC, Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, has notified to all the shopkeepers selling tobacco products that there would be a total ban on sale of tobacco products in Kohima on “World No Tobacco Day” on May 31. He warned that defaulters would be prosecuted under relevant laws.
Training for polling personnel concludes
The final phase training for polling personnel in Kiphire for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election to the Nagaland parliamentary constituency concluded on May 22. In the concluding day of training, deputy commissioner, Kiphire, Mohammed Ali Shihab, said that the by-election would be different unlike other time and asked everyone to take the matter seriously in their respective polling stations. The DC further requested the polling personnel not to leave chance for any complain from the public during polling.
Expenditure observer visits Wokha
Expenditure observer for the by-election to the Nagaland parliamentary constituency Tsewang Tharchin, visited Wokha and held a coordination meeting with the Election Expenditure Monitoring Team of the district at DC’s conference hall on May 22. During the interaction, Tharchin spoke on the role and responsibility of the expenditure monitoring team in maintaining proper records as they are the eyes and ears of the commission. The coordination meeting was attended by the teams from flying squad, video surveillance, video viewing, accounting, nodal officers, and media certification and monitoring committee (MCMC).
Peren’s DC informs officers
Deputy commissioner and DEO, Peren, SmitaSarangi, in a circular, informed all officers under Peren district to report all government vehicles along with the drivers to the transport committee at local ground, Peren town on May 25 positively for polling duty detailment. She stated that failure to comply with the order would be dealt with as per election laws.
ECI prohibits conducting exit poll
Election Commission of India has prohibited conducting any exit poll and publishing or publicising by means of the print or electronic media in connection with the by-elections to the Lok Sabha from Nagaland parliamentary constituency during the period between 7 am and 6:30 pm on May 28. It further stated that displaying any election matter including results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey, in any electronic media, would be prohibited during the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for conclusion of poll for the aforesaid by-elections.
Phek’s DC informs
In continuation with its office advertisement No. DCP/ ESTT.DLRB/ 2010/ 94 dated Phek the 19th April 2018, deputy commissioner, Phek, has informed that the district level recruitment board has been deferred till further order on account of by-Election to Nagaland parliamentary constituency 2018. He informed the applicants, who have already submitted their applications that the same would be considered as and when DLRB takes up adding they need not apply again.
Directorate of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, through a government notification, stated its additional director, Y Vandanshan Lotha has taken over charge as Head of Department with effect from January 12 last. A DIPR report stated that all DO letters/ confidential and other important correspondences should be addressed to him by name till further order.
