Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan officer visits Ahthibung
As part of the welfare scheme for the rural poor the Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan, the deputy secretary of the ministry of Finance, and the nodal officer for Peren district Gulab Singh visited Ahthibung block on May 3. They were accompanied by officers of the Power department of Jalukie. A DIPR update on Thursday stated that Singh interacted with the villagers. He said that the Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan was to promote social harmony through seven flagship welfare programmes.
Kohima press calls for roll
The Kohima Press Club (KPC) will be conducting its annual membership drive from May 15 to June 15. The KPC has informed members that the fee for renewal of membership has been fixed at INR 500. members may contact the KPC’s executive leaders for matter related to renewal of membership. Further, the club informed that the fee for fresh membership has been fixed at INR 1500. Anyone seeking regular membership either renewal or fresh would be required to produce a photocopy of an identity card, it stated. Fresh applicants are requested to contact the KPC’s president at 9436001665 for forms.

SSA teachers
The Kohima unit of the Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association has convened an emergency meeting to be conducted on May 5 at 11:00 am in Rüpfunüo building at D’ Block in Kohima. All the members are requested to attend the meeting. They are also asked to submit membership fees . Absentees will be dealt with strictly, the group added.
Senior citizens
The Nagaland Senior Citizens Association has convened its ‘annual general body meeting’ to be conducted on May 24 at 11:00 am in the Red Cross building in Kohima. The meeting will discuss the ‘Nagas’ welfare,’ besides election of a new team of executive members for the tenure 2018-22, the group informed. All the members of the group are requested to attend the meeting.
Nagaland Bar Association
The Nagaland Bar Association has convened an ‘emergency general body meeting’ to be conducted on May 4 at 12:00 noon in its office chamber in Dimapur. The meeting will discuss ‘matters relating to a writ petition pending before the principal seat of the Gauhati High Court for early disposal either by withdrawal or settlement or in any other manner as may be deemed appropriate.’ All the local bar’s members in the state are requested either to be present with collective views of their respective bar or to convey it through the phone. That way, it would enable the meeting to taken an appropriate resolution, the group stated.
Angami Public Organisation
The Angami Public Organisation has convened a meeting of its executive council scheduled to be conducted on May 7 at 10:00 am in the APO hall in Kohima. All the members of the executive council and representatives of the group’s various units are requested to attend the meeting.
CEO delegates officers for LS by-polls
As part of preparations for the Lok Sabha by-elections, the Nagaland Chief Election Officer (CEO) Abhijit Sinha has delegated deputy commissioners, and district election officers, besides the additional deputy commissioners and the district election officer of Pughoboto to act on behalf of the state’s government during the polls. A DIPR update on Thursday informed that, the officials will requisition vehicles, premises etc. to conduct the election to the Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency. Further, the CEO informed that any vehicle or premises belonging to a private individual or institution and organisation shall be entitled to a compensation through sec-161 of the Representation of Peoples Act of 1951.
The District Planning Development Board of Kiphire has convened its meeting for May to be conducted on the 8th at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall. Members are requested to attend the meeting.
The nodal officer for Nagaland Tobacco Prevention Control Dr. Arenla Walling has informed members of the district-level coordination committee that a meeting to discuss issues of tobacco control would be conducted on May 11 at 11:00 am in the DC’s conference hall in Kohima. She has requested the members in concern to attend the meeting.
