Tuensang road to be closed
The establishment of the Public Works Department (national highways) in Tuensang has informed about temporary closure of a road. According to a note from the executive engineer on Thursday, the road between Longkhim and Angangba along NH-155 (202 new) will be closed from March 23 from 5:00 am to 6:00 pm till further notice. The note stated that widening works were in progress at location-69.05km stated to be a ‘landslide area.’ “Light and medium vehicles are advised to take alternate route (village road) between Longkhim and Angangba. Inconvenience is regretted,” the note added.
Medziphema’s VBD to meet
The Village Development Board Association has informed that an emergency meeting would be conducted on March 24 at Hotel Casa at Nagarjan Police Point in Dimapur. According to a note, all the village development board secretaries in Medziphema block are requested to attend. ‘Strict action will be taken to the defaulters,’ the note stated.
Nayo condemns hit-and-run incident
The Northern Angami Youth Organization (Nayo) has vehemently condemned what it called was a hit-and-run on March 15 at the New Secretariat in Kohima that claimed the life of a person who was identified as one Neichatuolie Kense. A press release from the Nayo on Thursday stated that the law enforcing agencies should punish the culprit responsible for the said offence at the earliest. The organization will not remain a mute spectator in bringing justice to the victim and his family, the Nayo stated. “Justice delayed is justice denied,” it added.
GBs convene meeting
Dimapur District Gaon Bura Association (DDGBA) has convened an emergency meeting on Sat. March 24 at 10:00 am at its office, near Green park Junction. All the office bearers are requested to attend without fail, according to an update received from the DDGBA Information and Publicity secretary.
Kiphire places March agenda on the table
The monthly meeting of the Kiphire District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was conducted on March 14 at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall in Kiphire. The meeting was presided by Subdivision Officer (civil) Thungchanbemo Tungoe, updates from the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) informed on Thursday. During the meeting the chairman, Tungoe, conveyed appreciation to all the members of the board for their contribution during the elections to the 13th Nagaland State Assembly. He mulled an idea for formation of an officer’s club in the district to bring members and officers ‘closer to each other,’ the IPR stated. On account of the present DPDB meeting hall having become ‘too small’ the members proposed refurnishing with ‘contributions’ from board’s members after due consultation with the deputy commissioner, the update stated.
Kohima board gets ready for the monsoon
A meeting to discuss activities related to what updates called ‘pre-monsoon preparedness’ was conducted on March 21 at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall in Kohima. The meeting sought to discuss said activities based on the needful for maintenance of roads, strengthening of various bridges, and culverts, among others. During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Soundararajan directed all the departments in concern to complete all the required works by April 20. He directed all the depts. in concern to submit an action-taken report on the matter, the department of Information and Public Relations stated in its Thursday update.
