Diphu, March 9 (EMN): The newly posted Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Karbi Anglong, Mridul Kumar Mahanta who took charge on March 5, held an interactive meet at Diphu Circuit house on March 9 with the leaders of various social organisations including media persons.
The DC convened the interactive meet for exchange of views and opinion to seek moral and physical support towards developing the district.
Various organisation leaders pointed out the issues and problems of the district and suggested on taking up measures for the development of the district.
President, KSA-Inglongpho Bijoy Bey informed the DC about the educational problems of the district, where many schools lacks basic infrastructures, lack of teachers and the non-functional of model schools that are constructed in several areas of the district.
General Secretary, Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong, general secretary Kajek Tokbipi informed the DC about the problems faced by women in the district. There are cases related to women atrocities and rape against girls where victims do not get justice. The safety of women should be taken into consideration, she said.
A leader from AASU, Karbi Anglong District Committee informed the DC about the mistakes at the first phase of NRC draft publication where names of doubtful Bangladeshi persons are being included in the draft and demanded correction.
President, Kuki National Assembly T. Touthang informed the DC about traffic congestion in Diphu roads and suggested on having an over bridge at specific locations.
While a senior citizen Pari Rongpi suggested that the Nataji Subosh Chandra Bose’s park near the Circuit House should be beautified for public.
Incompletion of Manja-Diphu-Lumding road construction work by Simplex Company and the large scale encroachment of forest land in the inter-district and inter-state boundary inside Karbi Anglong were informed to the DC.
DC Mahanta sought for cooperation from public for the development of the district. Self-realization is most important as if everyone can take reasonability than there will be development, the DC said.
