Herole Y assumes office as Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress president during an induction programme in Chümoukedima.
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) formally marked the assumption of office by its newly elected leadership during an induction-cum-thanksgiving programme held at Premier Lodge, 4th Mile, Agri Expo, Chümoukedima, on September 26.
The programme was preceded by a victory rally that commenced from the residence of Nagavito Sumi, senior leader of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) member from Ghaspani-I, and advisor to NPYC, before proceeding towards the venue.
According to an update, the event had originally been planned around the visit of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) President Uday Bhanu Chib, who was scheduled to arrive at Dimapur Airport and participate in the programme following the rally. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, Chib could not attend, and the event proceeded as scheduled without his presence.
Addressing the gathering during the solidarity session, C Apok Jamir, Working President of the NPCC, described the occasion as coming at "a very opportune time" amid challenges facing the state and the country.

He stressed the responsibility of citizens, particularly young people, in safeguarding democratic and constitutional values. He said that citizens of India, the Northeast, and Nagaland have a duty to remain vigilant and work towards protecting society from aggression, atrocities, and what he described as unconstitutional means being witnessed across the country.
Speaking after formally assuming the responsibility of president of the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress, Herole Y said that he was taking up the responsibility "to serve, to listen, and to understand," while seeking to connect with the young minds of Nagaland.
He observed that a stronger and more hard-working generation of Naga youth is emerging across the state but pointed to the lack of adequate platforms, facilities, and employment opportunities as challenges confronting them.
Calling upon the youth to move beyond complacency, Herole Y urged young people not to remain confined to their homes and limit themselves to expressing opinions from the sidelines. He called for greater participation in public affairs and encouraged the youth to raise their concerns directly with the government, particularly on issues relating to opportunities, employment, privileges, and skill development.
The programme also witnessed the formal presentation of official appointment letters to the elected district Youth Congress presidents in the presence of the NPYC leadership and other Congress functionaries.
