Dimapur, June 8: Alon Yarn Store, a new yarn supplier for weavers, was inaugurated on Sat. June 8 at the Teshoushe Shopping Arcade in Dimapur.
The store was opened with the sole purpose of increasing the stock and accessibility to natural yarns, which will possibly encourage weavers and weaving units in the Nagaland market.
It is a part of the Alon Multipurpose Co-operative Society (MPCS) handloom and computerised embroidery, which was established in 1998. It is located at Kashiram in Dimapur and is reported to be one of the first few handloom fabric dealers in the district.
The proprietor of Alon Yarn Store, Atsungba Longchar, said the new store is an extension of the company which was established in association with Orient Processors Pvt. Ltd. based in Guwahati. It was reported to be the only manufacturer in the entire Northeast region that produces an array of high quality cotton yarn.
The store will now offer over 10 types of cotton yarn including an exclusive yarn brands like Ramadhenu and Reshmi which is manufactured by the Orient Processors Pvt. Ltd.
Ramdhenu brand yarn is of superior quality since all the yarn are twisted by imported TFO machine to get uniformly twisted and even yarn throughout the length. In case of breakage splicer machine is used to get knotless yarn.
Developed and imported technology is used in making soft package which is dyed in high temperature and pressure package dyeing machines.
Dyed yarn are dried in radio frequency dryer and converted to cone or hank so that there are no chances of entanglement is, as a result, unwinding process become easier and individual yarn can be easily processed in weaving operation.
The specialisation of this yarn is that it does not require application of starch and can withstand the weaving operation in handloom as well as power loom. We are also using AZO free dyes and chemicals making yarn skin friendly. The yarn available both in Hank and cone form.
Reishmi is a cellulosic yarn of botanic origin with raw material imported from Europe. It is a natural yarn having silken soft feel and is eco friendly.
The yarn maintains its silkiness after repeated wash and has characteristics of high water absorbency therefore it wet-strength is higher than cotton.
The quality of these yarns has been highly appreciated even in international markets and is known for producing quality fabrics that meets International standards and the export markets requirements.
In the day’s event, the store was inaugurated by the proprietor and the managing director of Orient Processors Pvt. Ltd., Pabitra Buragohain, in the presence of the company’s general manager, RC Goswami.
‘My mother complained about the region producing poor quality yarn. This is why I planned to establish the industry with state-of-the-art machineries imported from Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, and USA to produce good quality yarn,’ Buragohain told .
Buragohain asserted that Alon Yarn Store was the first and the only dealership store in Nagaland.
He said to have no intention to increase dealership in the district, in order to promote ‘healthy competition’ in the market. He said to have plans to establish another dealership in Kohima.
