Dimapur, Jan. 13: Following closure of the Old Dhansiri Bridge for repairs since January 9, the Dimapur Traffic Police today notified that all vehicular traffic on the route will be closed round the clock.
In the interest of smooth flow of traffic, it said the exit of vehicles from Walford to New Dhansiri Bridge via Lorna School junction has been prohibited. However, it said entry from Lorna School junction towards Walford has been allowed.
Owing to the heavy traffic on the route from Purana Bazar to Tragopan Point, commuters are encouraged to use the arterial route connecting Nagarjan to 3rd Mile. Meanwhile, it informed pillion riders on two wheelers to compulsorily wear helmets, adding defaulters will be penalised.
With the increasing volume of vehicular traffic compounded by various repair works which has cause inconveniences to the commuters, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police and PRO said the Dimapur Traffic Police is trying its best to minimise those inconveniences and ensure smooth flow of traffic along all the routes. It, therefore, requested commuters to co-operate with the Traffic Police personnel by obeying Traffic Rules and also assist by following single lane driving along narrow stretches and avoid overtaking.
