Mokokchung, Dec. 18 (EMN): A new traffic island was inaugurated at Sewak Gate junction in Mokokchung town by the superintendent of police, KM Aotula T Imchen, on December 18. The new traffic island was funded and constructed by the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
Terming the traffic island as a long-felt need fulfilled, Imchen extended her appreciation to MCCI for the contribution and the landowners for their generosity.
MCCI president, Tsukti Longkumer, stated that it was a Christmas gift to the people of Mokokchung from the business community.
Also speaking on the occasion, Mongsenbai ward chairman, Temjensangba, informed that Sewak Gate market area has become a busy commercial pocket with heavy traffic flow even till late evening. He, therefore, requested the authorities to depute traffic police personnel at the newly built traffic island.
Ungma village council chairman, Nungshilepden Jamir, also spoke at the inaugural on behalf of the landowners.
It may be mentioned that the traffic island is located at the tri-junction of NH 02, NH 202 and NH 702D at Mongsenbai ward.
