Kohima administration issues new traffic advisory after partial NH-2 restoration, with vehicle restrictions and alternative routes.

DIMAPUR — Following a partial restoration of National Highway-2 between Kohima and Mao, near Phesama (Chainage: KM 192.050 to KM 192.150), Kohima district administration on Wednesday issued a fresh traffic advisory.
According to Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem, movement of light motor vehicles has been permitted, while heavy vehicles up to six wheelers with a maximum load of 20 tonnes will also be allowed, subject to restrictions.
South-bound trucks heading towards Manipur will be permitted only between 8 pm and 12 midnight, while Dimapur-bound trucks will be allowed to move between 12 midnight and 4 am.

Convoys of security forces, LPG carriers, ambulances, fire tenders, and other vehicles providing essential services will be allowed movement during the day.
The advisory further stated that traffic on the affected section of NH-2 will remain suspended daily between 10 am and 2 pm to facilitate ongoing restoration works. An alternative route via Phesama–Kisama/Kigwema through Rhododendron Resort will remain open during these hours.
The administration also cautioned that in the event of heavy rainfall, all vehicle movement may be suspended due to risks of landslides in the area.
