Dimapur, August 13 : The Kohima traffic authorities have instated a number of traffic regulations to ease the 70th Independence Day celebration program at the Secretariat Plaza in Kohima town scheduled for August 15.
The capital town’s police establishment issued a notice on Saturday stating a number of traffic regulations that would be enforced as part of the day’s security arrangements.
The authorities have assured action in the event of violation of said regulations. The police will tow away ‘defaulting vehicles’ and the charges for it will be borne by the vehicle owners, the enforcing establishment stated.
Only vehicles with appropriate car passes will be allowed entry into the Secretariat Plaza, the police stated.
No vehicle will be allowed to be parked along the roads from 6:00 am onwards on August 15 at the routes BSNL Telephone Exchange till Classic Island; Raj Bhavan till MS Classic Island; Classic Island till the Assembly Secretariat via Razhü Point.
Further, heavy vehicles will not be allowed from the High School junction to the Assembly Secretariat via Sanuoru subway during the Independence Day program, except for government departmental buses.
Heavy vehicles will not be allowed into Kohima town till the program is over, the police said.
“All loading and unloading of goods in Kohima town should be completed by 0600 hrs (6:00am). Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to be parked along the ‘D’ Block road,” the notice stated. “While anticipating positive co-operation from the public, the police will tow away the defaulting vehicles and the charges will be borne by the vehicle owners,” the notice added.
