Dimapur, Dec. 20: A restaurant with a Naga theme to it—but of course, with hygiene and safety of customers as priority—was inaugurated on Thur. Dec. 20 at the Supermarket, opposite the Indian Post Office, in Dimapur. The “Naga Bowl Express” is the new entrant to the city’s cuisine movement.
Speaking to Eastern Mirror on the sidelines of the inauguration, the manager of the restaurant, Alemjungla Jamir said she opened the restaurant to give a platform to Naga home cooks to ‘express their talent.’ The restaurant assured keeping in mind the safety of patrons while maintaining hygiene.
The restaurant will be open Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 7 pm. According to Jamir, the restaurant will also host events and parties.
Jamir mentioned that the restaurant would come up with a special menu for the weekends as a continental food segment during which European, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisine, among others, would be served.
“It’s not a fine dining restaurant but more of a ‘Naga dhaba’,” Jamir said, while adding that Naga cuisine will be delivered instantly to customers upon order.
The restaurant will also accept pre-orders. Customers may contact the restaurant’s desk and place their order. Also, Jamir said that the restaurant will be conducting cooking classes for anyone willing to learn how to prepare Naga cuisine—for free.
The manager mentioned that well-known chefs from Nagaland and outside would be invited to the restaurant from time to time.
Naga Bowl Express has seven employees, primarily cooks and caterers. Jamir revealed that she intends to employ eight to ten employees.
