Dimapur, Jan 7: In a new development, a regional political party under the banner of “Liberal Democratic Party of Nagaland” (LDPN) has been formed by concerned educated youth. The new party was formed to revolutionise and develop the lives of the Nagas from the perspective of the 21st century.
“We plan on contesting the general elections of 2018 by means of clean election. The party was founded as a movement of the concerned people against the corrupted government and the brutal system in our lives that binds our fate with it,” LDPN Media Cell said in a statement.
The party is headed by SI Pongen as its president and Iskha Wotsa as the general secretary with its motto ‘Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.’ ‘Liberty is a luxury the common people in Nagaland doesn’t have the privilege to exercise. There is no equal opportunity for the people from economic and political perspectives in our society. Despite the stress on unity, we are still divided and there is but little feeling of fraternity among the Nagas,’ the statement added.
It affirmed to fight for liberty and equality of the people in the eyes of the law and create platforms that would promote the feeling of fraternity among the Nagas.
Observing that the greatest threat to the society today is unemployment, the party planned to set priorities in creating private firms in the urban areas and promote agro based entrepreneurships in the rural areas to tackle massive unemployment. It will then focus on human development so that every Naga becomes smart and functional asset of the society. Seminars and public conference about personality development will also be conducted time after time which the state governments so far has ignored or failed to mention in their developmental plans if they had any i.e.
Stating that every Naga is important, it has formed the party by considering someone with little knowledge will be an asset to the society. It felt that the government should be exercised by concerned, capable and intellectual persons and not by some businessman who has money to buy votes.
It questioned if “we really have to wait for another decade to conduct clean election?” “When will the Nagas finally open their eyes and notice the evils of the corrupted persons sitting in the chairs and say enough to them instead of depending on them,” and “Will we be forever the slaves of money or the master of our own future.”
The party asserted that it us not another political party promising to develop and furnish the roads, give away tin roofs, bags of rice, small village funds etc adding its perspective and scope was much bigger. It hoped to bring advance technological, economical and infrastructural development in the society.
“We are of this generation and the young people understand much more than all the matured veteran politicians on how to run and develop a state in this brave new world. It is high time we start doing the rational thing for our society, things that make sense and matters,” the statement added.
It aimed to connect the Nagas altogether by creating various social platforms so that everyone will be involved in shaping a new civilised advanced Nagaland. It is also opened to any individual or groups with critical arguments about the party or suggestions by either having a private meeting or public conferences and friendly gentleman’s debates.
Meanwhile, it expressed confidence to end corruptions with the concerted effort of the people and start afresh for the benefit of the common people.
