The second Naga King Chilli Festival in New Puilwa, Peren, encouraged farmers to expand commercial production, improve quality and strengthen market linkages for better returns.

DIMAPUR — The second edition of the Naga King Chilli Festival was held at New Puilwa village in Peren district on Tuesday, with participation from local communities, government departments and stakeholders involved in promoting Naga King Chilli and other horticultural produce.
D Robin, ADC Peren, who attended the festival as the special guest, encouraged farmers to scale up commercial production and adopt a market-oriented approach to tap the growing commercial potential of Naga King Chilli, a DIPR report stated.
He stressed the need to improve productivity, maintain quality standards and adopt improved cultivation, harvesting and post-harvest management practices to enhance the market value of the crop.
Farmers were also encouraged to explore wider domestic and external markets and strengthen market linkages through collective marketing.

Emphasis was placed on value addition, proper packaging, branding and quality preservation to help farmers secure better returns.
Representatives of the Department of Industries & Commerce and the Department of Horticulture, Peren, also spoke on the importance of promoting local produce, entrepreneurship and market opportunities.
The inaugural programme concluded with an inspection of stalls by the special guest and other guests, showcasing Naga King Chilli and other locally produced agricultural and horticultural products.
