DIMAPUR — A
panchayat ghar-cum-kitchen, constructed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural
Employment Guarantee Act at Mutsale village, Rural Development (RD) Block Phek,
was inaugurated on Thursday by the director of RD, K Inazhe Phuleshe, in the
presence of departmental officials and village functionaries.
In his keynote address, Phuleshe highlighted that the
institution of the Village Development Board (VDB) first originated at
Ketsapomi village in Phek district on an experimental basis, according to a
press release.
Towards this end, he stated that the VDB has come a long way
since its inception and called upon them to set an example for the rest of the
state.
He also lauded the village functionaries for judiciously
utilising the funds provided by the department to build an asset that will
benefit all the villagers. Furthermore, he urged them not to be satisfied with
the completed project but to continue pursuing developmental activities in the
future.
Mutsale village, being a valley with fertile topography,
Phuleshe encouraged them not to depend on government funding alone but to make
full use of the various potentials available in their land and aim for
long-term, sustainable profit.
Earlier, speeches were also delivered by the project
director of DRDA, Phek, Vihesanuo Solo, and the VCC of Mutsale, Denezo Nienu.
