New packaged water to ride the blue wave

Mero and others seen during the inauguration of the ‘Blue Wave’ at Kohima on Nov. 30.[/caption] Kohima Bureau Kohima, Nov. 30 (EMN): A new packaged drinking water plant called ‘Blue Wave’ was inaugurated by MK Mero, commissioner-secretary of the department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary at the Dairy Farm in Kohima on Nov. 30. The water plant was installed by the Nagaland State Dairy Cooperative Federation Limited in collaboration with the Nagaland Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services department. The plant has been approved by the Bureau of Indian Standard since December 2016. Addressing during the inaugural function, Mero who is also the chairman of the Nagaland state Dairy Cooperative Federation Limited informed that the plant is capable of producing 1000 liters per hour packaged drinking water for marketing which will come in 500 ml pet bottle and 20 liters jars. He further informed that NSDCF is planning to produce 1 liter and 300 ml pet bottle water for the coming years. Giving a brief background of the water plant, he said the setting up of water plant was initiated since September 2012 comprising of 11 members board of directors under the chairmanship of Tawang Konyak with the primary objective is to ensure the availability of portable water for the Capital Dairy Plant and generate substantial revenue by utilizing the additional treated water for sales as packaged drinking water. Mero further informed that one building for housing of the plant was constructed and machinery equipments were installed by incurring an expenditure of Rs. 68.12 lakhs, which was mobilised by the Nagaland State Cooperative Federation Limited. The lay out planning, construction and installation works were carried out by a sourcing consultancy services from M/S Bestech Water Treatment Private Limited Ahmedabad, Gujarat India, he informed. Dr. Viral Yore, additional director of A.H & Vety. Services, during the welcome address said, the Director General of Bureau of Indian standard during his last September visit at the plant site located at Lerie, Kohima has termed the ‘Blue Wave’ as one of the best water in the entire North east and further encourages the federation for production at larger scale. He maintained that Blue Wave has large demand in the market and was optimistic that it will be progressive and might soon become the backbone of the state economy.
