MOKOKCHUNG — The new office of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) was inaugurated on July 26 on the first floor of the District Youth Hostel in Mokokchung.
The event was attended by Imkongchuba, Chairperson of the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC), as the guest of honour.
In his address, Imkongchuba described the new office as a “historic milestone” that symbolises vision, determination, and progress. He praised MDFA’s recent efforts, including the Zonal Association Program themed “Football at the Grassroots”, which aims to extend the sport to rural areas and schools, as well as the MDFA Trophy, which encourages community engagement.
He also commended the association’s talent scouting and coaching camps for nurturing young players.
Imkongchuba also emphasised the need for internal integrity alongside structural growth, stating that without structure, even passion could not stand. He urged the MDFA to maintain transparent and accountable leadership and encouraged them to aim higher by establishing a football academy under the Khelo India platform.
He encouraged the association not to wait for the perfect time but to start with what they had, emphasising that when one starts small but dreams big, amazing things happen.
MDFA president N Akok Longkumer described the inauguration as a pivotal step in the association’s mission to promote football in Mokokchung. He expressed gratitude to stakeholders, especially the former deputy commissioner of Mokokchung, for providing the office space.
“This office will serve as a hub for our efforts to develop football and empower our youth,” Longkumer said.
