KOHIMA — A Multi-purpose hall (pre-engineered infrastructure), implemented by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports at Chalietsüdi, Sechü (Zubza), Kohima district, was inaugurated on Tuesday by Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister, in the presence of Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse and Advisor Keoshu Yimkhiung.
In his address, the advisor to chief minister stated that while the project's completion is a significant milestone for the department and sports community, the credit lies with the local people for their cooperation and support to the government.
He believed that infrastructure like this is reiteration f the state government’s commitment to strengthen the ecosystem for the youths of Nagaland especially in the field of sports.

He stated that across the districts of the state, stadiums like this already exist or are coming up citing that the CM is committed to enhance the sports development.
According to Metha, the infrastructure showcases the state government’s commitment to empowering Nagaland's youth, particularly in sports. He highlighted that similar stadiums are either existing or being developed across various districts, demonstrating the chief minister’s dedication to sports development.
He also reiterated that Nagaland’s youth possess immense talent in sports, and the North East region is recognised as a talent hub for the country.
Maintaining that the newly inaugurated indoor stadium is an investment in the state’s youth, empowering them to pursue their dreams, he also congratulated the team for completing the stadium in record time, thanks to the people’s support.
Further, the advisor expressed optimism that the stadium would shape future generations not just in winning medals, but also in building character, resilience, and perseverance. He encouraged the youngsters to work hard and stay committed, assuring them that success would follow.
Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister of Horticulture and Women Resource Development, stated that the inauguration of the indoor stadium reflects the government’s commitment to providing sports infrastructure for the state’s youth.
She opined that the multipurpose hall stands as a symbol of vision and commitment, a place where aspirations will take flight and where champions will rise.
“This facility is the realisation of that vision, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure to host a variety of indoor games and training programs,” she added.
S Keoshu Yimkhiung, Advisor of Youth Resources & Sports, credited the chief minister’s visionary leadership for the state's sports infrastructure development. He noted that while Nagas are sports enthusiasts, they often play seasonally without consistency. Despite having innate talent and potential, the lack of focus hinders professional outcomes in sports, he stated.
Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of Youth Resources & Sports, mentioned that Nagaland government has started multi projects hall, aptly named as multi disciplinary halls across the length and breadth of the state.
“By the end of this year we are expecting to have 31 multi disciplinary complex functioning and we will also be having 28 futsals functioning by the end of this year,” he disclosed.
Sekhose also informed that the state government is utilising its own resources to develop sports infrastructure, currently building six stadiums at district headquarters. He added that the chief minister has committed to providing standard grounds with night facilities in all 17 districts.
The new indoor stadium was reportedly completed within a span of two years.
