Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): To ensure everyone wear face mask, GB and members of New Market Business Owners Associations (NMBOA), in collaboration with district administration, organised a free mask campaign in and around New Market and distributed to all those without a mask or those who need them.
A GB of New Market Ward-19, Khekishe Aye, informed journalists that they would continue with the campaign for the next few weeks to ensure that everyone wear face mask.
He informed that in 2020, New Market remained closed for around 167 days as part of government’s preventive measures to contain Covid-19, whereby traders faced certain survival challenges while goods were affected due to the prolonged closure of market. In order to avoid the same fate this year, he stated that they are trying their best.
It may be mentioned that following order from the Dimapur district administration to open shops on odd-even mode at New Market, MNBOA officials along with New Market GB have classified the shops on April 22.
In compliance to the order, shops were opened as per the odd-even rule. The officials have pasted number 1 and number 2 stickers in every shop to avoid crowding.
Nukshi Matong, EAC Dimapur Sadar, who is also the magistrate executive of New Market ward 19, along with GB Khekishe Aye and Md. AK Talukdar, and NMBOA officials inspected the market area today.
The EAC expressed his gratitude to the GB, NMBOA and Dimapur administration for their humanitarian works in the New Market area. Reminding on the increasing number of positive cases, he appealed to the citizens to maintain social distancing, wear mask everyday and “save yourself and your family and your community from this pandemic”.
He also appealed to the citizens to avail the vaccine, which is made available free of cost.
