Dimapur, September 26: After going through a harrowing time without power for a month, the shopkeepers in New Market can finally heave a sigh of relief following installation of 500 kv transformer by the Power Department on September 26.
New Market area has been reeling under complete power blackout for almost a month following breakdown of the old transformer making it hard for the shopkeepers to carry on with their business. Some privileged few could run their business through the use of generator, while the unfortunate ones had to forgo their usual business for want of power supply. The unbearable temperature of Dimapur added to their woes which forced few traders to shut down their shops with no option while some chose to carry on in the dark even with the power.
However, on Monday the traders received good news with the installation of 500 kv transformer though the department reached late to their rescue.
Meanwhile, the New Market Business Owners’ Association has appreciated the Power Department for installing the transformer.
