Kohima, Feb. 27 (EMN): Two polling stations under 8 Western Angami assembly constituencies namely New Market 1 and New Market 111 polling stations have accomplished the “clean election” campaign in principle by ensuring “one man, one vote” during the poll held on February 27.
New Market I polling station reordered 640 votes out of 768, while the New Market 111 polling station recorded 288 votes out of 356 voters.
New Market Area Panchayat (NMAP) and New Market Youth Organisation (NMYO) maintained strict vigil throughout the polling on Tuesday and had not allowed any proxy voting in the two stations.
NMAP chairman Kuotsu Kehie expressed satisfaction over the polling conducted in the New Market polling stations. He also stated that whichever candidate wins the election, the elected legislator should work for the development of the assembly. He disclosed that the two most important priorities of the New Market colony is the road development and the construction of New Market Area Panchayat hall.
The New Market area is one of the oldest colonies in the state capital and needed immediate attention of road development as most of the vehicles– be it private, government and commercial vehicles - traverse the colony road daily.
