KOHIMA, JANUARY 16
A new marketing complex called the Pfuchatsumia Thinuo (khel) traditional market was inaugurated by Khriehu Liezietsu, parliamentary secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, State Lotteries and Music Task Force, on Saturday, January 16, at Ziekezou in Kohima village.
Congratulating the P Khel community for the market complex, Liezietsu remarked that construction of a community building does not only need financial, but it can happen only by the wisdom and cooperation of good leaders. He was optimistic that the building would benefit the younger generation, and that ‘peace, harmony and unity would prevail amongst them in the days to come.’
Highlighting on some of the works being undertaken by him, the Legislator said repairing of road through Kohima village has started since November last, and also assured that he would repair all the roads in the village in the future.
In this regard, he has appealed the people of the village to maintain cleanliness in and around their surroundings, to avoid washing of cars by the roadside and also to avoid dumping of building materials alongside the road, which he said dirties the road and creates congestion of traffic.
To encourage students to appear for civil and competitive exams, Liezietsu said he has been sponsoring 50% coaching fees of those interested students at ETEN Coaching Centre, one of the best coaching centres at present. Therefore, he has urged all those interested students to seize the opportunity and make the best of it.
With less or no avenues in the government sector at the present time, Liezietsu maintained that one need to find other alternatives to earn one’s livelihood, and therefore said sports is one such avenue with big opportunity. He also stressed on the need to promote and preserve one’s own unique traditional folk songs, folk lore and traditional sports and games. He said works are on to create a platform for the younger generation.
The parliamentary secretary also humbly stated that there are still many things to do in the future, and therefore sought the support and cooperation of the people of the village to work hand in hand for the development of the village and its people.
Giving a brief background on the construction of the building, Vilie-o Rutsa, convener of the building committee said the ground for the construction started on April 9, 2014. He thanked his colleagues, khel members and those individuals for their financial, material and physical support.
