…their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more. and where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.
Hebrews 10:17-18
The Lord shows mercy to those who renounces the life of sin. His hands are upon those who lives to please Him. In the past while we had been slaves to sin, His unending prayers on our behalf ultimately rescued us from the dominion of darkness. In wickedness we had lived as Satan concentrated on his ministry of sin.The truth was that we had loved wickedness more than righteousness. As we embrace sin, the evil in us seduced us to commit the acts of sin. Everything we did was evil and every thought that was conceived in us was evil. Our love for sin had been greater than our love for God. But inspite of our wickedness God had mercy on us. Inspite of our unrighteousness’, He prayed that we may one day become the righteousness in Him.
If we had still continued in our acts of sin, we might‘ve perished in our sins. Eternal torment might‘ve been our fate but eternal life became our reward because of His great love. Death would have destroyed us if Christ had not conquered death through the cross. Considering all of these we ought to be grateful for what Christ did for us. We came to the knowledge of truth through His Word. It is by grace that we are saved and it will be by our acts of faith that will determine our reward in heaven. As the Word states, their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more, we are also told to refrain from sin and remember our sins no more.If we live by what is being taught to us, our relationship with Christ will only become stronger. However because of the weakness of the flesh, our lust for worldly desires tends to severe our relationship with Christ.
Being aware of the life of sin we had lived in the past, sometimes our conscience hinders us from having a healthy relationship with Christ. It is in the nature of Satan to torment us through our sins of the past and to instill fear in us. To see us lose our confidence in Christ is the ultimate wish of our nemesis. So being aware of this we have to watch out lest we fall prey to the schemes of the devil. 2 Corinthians 2: 11
In view of this the Hebrew writer writes “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:22-23)The message of the Word written on the above passage is for us to meditate on. As humans we are liable to sin but that shouldn’t hinder us from renewing our relationship with Christ. If we are to continue fretting over our past mistakes, the devil will start controlling our lives. God never fails and the Word will never lie.
Our relationship with Christ may have been affected for reasons best known to us but we should be sensible enough to be reconciled to Him again. The Lord is always ready to forgive our transgressions because He desires a relationship with us. If we live in Christ again, He will love us as He first loved us. Enjoy the relationship as you live on and inherit the blessings as He promised.
