New hostels, ICAR project inaugurated at Nagaland University
The new boys' and girls' hostels, along with The Study Falcon Project, funded by ICAR,were inaugurated at Nagaland University's School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS), Medziphema Campus

28.
DIMAPUR — The new
boys' and girls' hostels, along with The Study Falcon Project, funded by ICAR,
were inaugurated at Nagaland University's School of Agricultural Sciences
(SAS), Medziphema Campus, during a formal ceremony held at the multipurpose
hall on February 28.
According to a press release, the event was attended by Dr.
RC Agrawal, deputy director general (Education), ICAR, New Delhi, as the chief
guest, with Prof. Akali Sema, pro vice-chancellor, Nagaland University,
Medziphema Campus, presiding over the function.
The event was also attended by Dr. I Shakuntala Devi, dean
of the College of Veterinary Science (CAU), Jalukie, and Dr. Girish Patil S,
director of NRC Mithun.
The ceremony began with a dedication prayer led by Pastor
Nahang Chawang from the Spirit of Faith Church, Medziphema. This was followed
by the unveiling of the inaugural plaque and ribbon cutting by the chief guest,
marking the official opening of the newly constructed boys' and girls' hostels.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Agrawal emphasised the
importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping the future, stating that
AI is the need of the hour and that the present generation of students will be
responsible for realising "Viksit Bharat 2047".
He praised Nagaland University’s efforts in integrating
technology and research-driven education into its academic framework. Prof. L
Daiho, dean of the School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University,
Medziphema Campus, welcomed the gathering.
This was followed by a construction report presented by
Merijan Tsopeo, JE (C), Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus.
A technical briefing on "The Study Falcon Project"
was delivered by Vinay Goel, core team member, and Dr. Mary N Odyuo, principal
investigator of the project.
The project, specifically designed for scheduled
tribe students, focuses on providing an AI-based platform to assist students in
preparing for competitive exams.
The inaugural event also saw the participation of students
and faculty members from various colleges under Nagaland University.
