Dimapur, Jan. 13: The new deputy commissioner of Kohima district, Rajesh Soudararajan, visited Kohima village and interacted with the people of the village in the Kohima Village Council hall on January 13.
During his visit, Rajesh Soudararajan expressed gratitude to the villagers for the warm welcome. He said the visit to the village was his first after taking over as the deputy commissioner of Kohima, and the first ever village he visited in Nagaland was Kohima village in 2012.
The village has set an example as the face of the state with its developed infrastructure and its properties, he said. Soudararajan said that it was the responsibility of every individual to bring development to their village, district and the state in general. He urged all the individuals in concern to have a sense of collective responsibility and work together to provide opportunities for the youth.Deputy Commissioner Soudararajan also stressed on the importance of preserving one’s culture, custom and traditions, which is an individual’s identity. It is like the root of a tree without which a tree cannot grow, he said.
The administrator has assured his support and cooperation to the people and to deliver his best to bring new opportunities for development of the district.
The chairman of the Kohima Village Council, Medoselhou Keretsü, also spoke during the interactions. He welcomed the deputy commissioner on behalf of the village. He gave a brief highlight of the village’s history and spoke about a wish for the development of Kohima town.
Expressing happiness over the selection of Kohima city ‘for fast development’ under the Smart City Mission, the chairman requested the deputy commissioner to expedite all the developmental work in order to transform the dream into a reality.
Also, he reminded that the KVYO has a number of new programmes and sought his cooperation for their accomplishment. The chairman assured the administrator of the village council’s cooperation in the matters of administration in the days to come.
